What are your predictions for the next year in the line, or two or three, whatever?

I was just having a convo with SG and came up with a few of my own.

We'll see the drome, I know this mold could not have been lost, I can just feel it(ok, maybe its fanboy fantasy delusion), but I can also see a new joe mobile base. I'm hoping they do a helicarrier for a new flagg, how neat would that be?

I can also see big fan favorites being in both bases, mindbender in the drome, maybe stone or someone like that in the flying flagg(ok, I know nothing about the joe team, except mike's forgotten figures have gotten me hating keel haul, lol).

I also see night force and sky patrol making a comeback, if only as a limited set or exclusive.

Dare we hope for a tomahawk or stun? I can see the stun, it has just that kind of "meh" to get made, but the tomahawk, well, I can't see them modding it enough to actually seat what six guys? But I'd bust out a jig like the beav if I could have a new tomahawk assault a new drome, :)

So, what do you guys see coming?

I'm not that optimistic. If we get a big playset like the Drome, I have a feeling it'll be a one-shot deal, unless it sells really, really well. I do anticipate them putting some long-wanted figure with it, which will no doubt piss off a lot of people (possibly me included, since I don't have room for a second Terror Drome). As far as smaller vehicles, I'm guessing it'll be mostly movie tie-in stuff for awhile, and then back to rehashes. They haven't really been surprising us with any vehicle molds, except for the Water Moccasin and the Firebat...mainly just the stuff we've known they've had around. I'd love to see a STUN or a HISS 2 (since we know they have both molds), and I have a feeling a Ferret is inevitable at some point. Other than that, I'm betting on a few more TF and PP repaints (hopefully of vehicles that HAVEN'T had the treatment before, but most likely not). I'd love to see a red Water Moccasin (ala that incredibly expensive foreign version) or a PP version.

:crystalball: :dotl:

Let's just say I'm not optimistic about :hasbro: putting all of their eggs in the movie basket. That works great if the movie is a big success. Or it could bring all of the momentum this line has got going for it to a screeching halt if it is a dud at the box office.

However, if I'm wrong, the sky is the limit. New fans, new figures, new vehicles, and a sequel. That means the whole process starts all over again with an expanded roster and even more toys sort of based on the movie theme...kind of.

interesting thread...

I see it as all over the place.

I'm assuming with the movie, we're gonna see a new fighter or Tomahawk-esque transport copter, which may dismiss a classic Tomahawk for awhile. we will see a big playset, but its gonna reflect the movie.

If the movie is a big success.. they're pretty much gonna throw at us almost anything we ask for, because they know it will sell.

......we probably still won't see a Big Lob figure.... :-P

I'm not going with Movie predictions but more of the Resolute Cartoon.

New F-23 Skystriker 2 seat fighter and maybe the new Transport Chopper from the series whichever one they use. But thats as far as I'm going with the crystal ball cause if I was using a actual one I'd be checking out the Power Ball winning #'s. :whistling:

Ok, resolute and the movie bring up an interesting point.

We need a toy genius to venture a guess on how "animated" joes will look(will they all be big heads?) and how the transformer movie figures(their variance from their predecessors) is likely to translate into the movie's evolution of the joe line.

Will all the joes finally wear a standardized uniform?

Will cobra actually become a terrorist force?

I'm gonna venture a guess that the movie will be dull uniforms with catching details, like a destro with a muted grey/black uniform, cut in sliver or gold, then his metallic mask, to me, thats a no brainer, but when considering other characters, how would that hold up?

It certainly follows H's reasoning of reusable molds, think about it, each joe would have the same or near same construction, just new hands, heads, gear, and cobra troopers? Wow, they could be the same guy over and over, just new gear, vests, helmets, etc.

And that would work, in my mind.

The Resolute figs area already out. viewtopic.php?f=10&t=13368 The movie ones that have been shown look interesting but not my cup of tea. We already know they'll all have 25th construction.

but will the movie line continue as the transformer one did, not only showing movie characters, but movie styled characters, I think iron man did an ok job of this, as well.

Although I don't expect to be collecting, and I have my reservations about the movie, one of my concerns is that from a purely "visual on the toy shelf" standpoint, it looks like darn near everyone dresses in black or significant amounts thereof. That's going to make for a rather mono-colored display, unless Hasbro takes the Bat-route and starts doing multiple versions of everyone with special capabilities that demand brightly colored uniforms. We'll see.

Personally, I see the toy shelves next summer being deluged with G.I.Joe, Transformers, and Star Trek, and to be honest, my interest in all three of them is rather limited, and I am highly concerned about some lines that don't have movie tie-ins, such as DC Universe.

As for Joe in particular, I hope that Hasbro doesn't throw all its eggs into the movie basket, because as others have pointed out in this thread, I'd like to see some remakes (or altered incarnations) of classic vehicles.

I could say the same in a way for Transformers. I do not want to see the Universe Classics disappear for a second time. That line has a good amount of potential in my opinion.

Oh man, I really hope Hasbro doesn't Follow Mattel's awesome ideas. You know "Super Mega blast Duke ", "Arial mega attack duke" Underwater Super mega Attack delta Duke"...

A bunch of black figures with Neon Accessories that aren't in the Movie, Ack my stomach is turning just thinking about it.

If they do release the Terror Drome, I hope it's retooled somehow other than for foot and back pegs. If it's a movie tie-in, some electronic sounds would be awesome as long as the effects are from the cartoons.

But my predictions are figures of the basic uniformed characters, with a couple of extras like "Ninja Training" Snake Eyes, " Final Battle" Snake Eyes and Stormshadow, cold weather Duke and team, etc, etc. Plus I bet they expand it a little to include off-screen Joes and Cobras (which I think we already know about Snowjob and a couple of others).

I also bet we see the Hummer mold again that was just used in the Hulk line. Oh, and ninjas with motorcycles. Gotta have ninjas with motorcycles.

I think they are going to short change the movie figures for the shelf and we will have what we did with TF movie figures until a glut comes in and they pegwarm.

The movie's success will be directly linked to the toys success, IE look out.

I am thinking with resolute they are pulling a TF animanted all over again and going to create a seperate line which might work. The toon might actually be a success which would be ironic if the movie flops.

I don't see Hasbro allowing one of their characters attacking a Disney character...

More dvd sets, this year "themed" sets , like an Arctic group of 4 or 5 figures and 4 or 5 episodes that take place in snow, they could almost make 2 sets like this, Then a water one, a dessert one, maybe an air one with pilots .

More comic packs just like this year , and maybe Tiger Force , PP , etc..comic sets , they could use this idea for years.

more Target exclusvie items

COVER GIRL , single card, then comic with who ever , then dvd box set with long blonde hair, then with wolverine , as a Target exclusvie .

new Bombstrike and Jinx 25th bodies , ( then used to make Scarlett and Baroness repaints )
and a FEMALE TROOPER body in 25th , use to make blue shirts , (dvd set) , and green shirts for the Joes

some sort of a Joe base and Cobra base ( probale TRU or Target exclusive) nothing to big , about 25-30 $ with figure.

mail in for DR. Knox ( repaint of new Bombstrike body with new head ) for late 2009 early 2010

X-mas style figures (like Star wars ) probale a Target or TRU exclusive

more "extreme conditions" 7 packs this year with Green "LASER BLAST" , and blue shirts both hot and cold and with some female troopers thrown in and 1 named figure , then maybe some jungle and water sets .

more of the TRU ranking officers 3 -packs , this year a winter set for bot Joe and Cobra and a Baroness with 2 female blue shirt troopers,

other than that i have no idea.

I predict G.I. Joe getting cancelled if the movie bombs. And if the script I read was legit :-/

I predict there will probably be a couple more lame international repaints, that sap the only sense of originality the international figure had.

I bet there will be 2 more Internet exclusive 7 packs, one joe and one cobra, the Joe one will probably have 3-4 highly desirable characters (White Ripcord, Cover Girl, Lt. Stone, Hit and Run) same for Cobra (Kwinn, Dr. Venom, popular specialty Vipers)

And last but not least movie costumed figures will probably hang on the shelf
