For 2009 and beyond, as far as we know, the GI Joe Collectors Club will be the only source for ARAH figures. The first figure we know of is the membership Undertow figure in the black, gold, and red of the IGs.

:hasbro: has already made the announcement that from here on out anything they release will be 25th styled design.

Like Pluv said only MasterCollector will be releasing ARAH styled figs.

True, but there are ARAH Beachhead figures in stores now. They're probably just overrun figures that had been sitting in a warehouse, but the fact that they're being sold undermines Hasbro's no more ARAH declaration.

It might take a year or two, but we'll see ARAH figures in stores again. One way or another, it will happen. Probably a TRU exclusive.

Says you!

Personally, I can't wait till the Collector's Club gets over themselves (joking) and starts putting out 25th figures for their Con sets. That'll be the first set I purchase from them, regardless the price.

With their killer paint apps, interesting troop concepts, and willingness to do fan-favorites and International repaints... there's a whole new world of 25th Collecting to be done thru the club.

Just have to wait for them to make that leap. Any year now...

actually it isnt the Clubs descision, but Hasbro's descision to not have the 25th (at least thats what we were told at the last con)

however the club is free to use any of the RAH and New Sculpt molds, for now....
Most likely, if the 25th line tanks at retail, then the club will have free reign of the 25th molds.

Not really, since hasbro produced it last year therefore their no more ARAH stance stands.

The new Beachhead is not extras they had in a warehouse. You can tell it is new because the camo does not match the original release and it isn't quite the same color.

The flesh is a bit off and the brown is blatently different in person. Then if you look at the grid camo pattern, the old one had black spots here and there, but consistent from figure to figure. The new one has none. Also, the NF logo uses a brighter yellow. These just aren't the same as the original release.

I definitely don't think that an offshoot product made to get something on the shelves of low-cost stores is an indication that ARAH will have a resurgence at stores. But I think that the movie will bring with it some more guys our age who would appreciate something more similar to what they had as a kid. So it is possible that we could see some small run of ARAH.

I think it is just not possible that we will never, ever see the ARAH style at mass retail again. It will happen, but this just isn't the right time for it.

Not the same Beachhead as the one from a few years back?

-insert streaming profanities here-

Now I'll have to go back and pick one up. I did grab a Frostbite figure. Let's check... :shifty:

the camo pattern is different, the white on the new figure is a bit duller, the grey on the new figure is a bit darker, too.

-insert more streaming profanities here-

Does anyone know if all of the new $3 figures are slight variants?

The short answer is yes, they are different.

The long answer:

A few are the same as the last "single carded" release (which is almost a misnomer now, but for these figures it still applies).

Stalker, Ace, Tele-Viper, Dusty, and Kamakura actually already changed slightly during their last release to Dollar General or Kay Bee on VvV cards. That is, there were two different ones of each on VvV cards (pretty much that whole wave changed at one point). These releases are the same as the most recent change that did hit DG and KB. If you skip any, skip those five. The rest...

Beachhead: no camo dots, lighter brown holster, belt, etc.

Black Dragon Ninja: slightly brighter red

Frostbite: different camo, lighter tan, off white

Slice: much darker red upper leg armor (that attaches around waist)

Slash: slightly darker skirt

Night Creeper: much darker gold (almost bronze now)

Sand Viper: much darker gold, slightly brighter red

The GIJoe Collector's Club runs the annual Joe conventions. At the convention, they sell exclusive figures using vintage molds. Every year the theme is different, and the characters are different.

http://www.gijoeclub.com should be your first stop. Check the YoJoe.com archives for past Convention exclusives.

oh okay thanks man, just signed up, yeah i looked up on yojoe for the new beach head they were talking about, i guess he's in the convention ones.

yeah it's odd for hasbro to just come out and make that announcement, wonder why they did that, as someone said previously, they probably will eventually, why alienate a segment of their clients, doesn't make any sense.

The "new" Beachhead, despite having slightly different colors, is actually not a Real American Hero toy. It's a repaint of the Valor Vs Venom figure that came out in 2004.

It's possible the VvV Single-card "repaints", which are dollar-store items, not convention exclusives, aren't in their archives yet. They're relatively new and in a year where 25th is King, and product is deluging the stores, it's possible the YoJoe team isn't considering these high priority.

The truth is, RAH product was cheap to produce, but the molds are old, probably detriorating heavily, and most of the repaint sets they released were store exclusives. It's very possible that Toys R Us (who carried most of those exclusives) decided they were done. That right there isn't Hasbro's choice... if there are no retailers who want repaints of 20 year old toys... what can you do?
