Nice try, but I call foul on your math!

HISS +HISS driver (retail = $15)
MOBAT +driver figure(retail probably = $15)
Flight Pod +driver figure(retail around $7.50 (half of a $15 set)

4 figures @ $7.00 a piece = $28.00

I was convinced this was going to be $50. I don't know if we made that figure up, or if it was mentioned at one of the cons, but $67 is a little steep. Much like the Order 66, three Joe vehicles and the Transformers in the large cylinders, I probably won't see this. I'm still stunned I was able to get a Rattler. That being said, I would buy it if I had that much money lying around, but that's more than my comic budget, so it seems a bit steep to buy a few figures for that price.

This gets a big pass, shouldn't hurt H too much, there are always those who will buy anything hasbro puts out.

personally, i figure the mobat/driver at about $20-25. Its bigger than all the $15 vehix and it has electronic components. Wasn't the old TRU mobat and figure $20? and that was what...8 years ago? At any rate your math is closer...it comes out to $65.50

The original Mobat/Steeler was $20...in 1982! I know I'll buy it if/when I see it, and deal with the buyer's remorse later. :-D

Well, I bought this thing today. Another big purchase on Joes. Grrrrr.

But, the set is pretty nice. Originally I was meh about all the repaints. But after seeing it in person, I was sold. The way it displays is really nice. The artwork and the package design were really top notch. Of course, they had to screw it up a little by not putting helmets on any of the figures. I assume they are all inside the package, even Cobra Commander's. So I already know I want to keep the set in the box but it doesn't have to be sealed. I actually would prefer to open it so I could put the stickers on the vehicles and put helmets on the figures. But I am worried any any attempt to open the box means destroying the box.

For anyone that has opened this set, what is the situation on the packaging. Can it be opened and put back without destroying it?

Thanks to a guy I ran into Thursday while on a Joe hunt, I found out our local Target had one. I picked it up, but the package was all dinged up and the plastic split. I was hoping to get two, one to open and one to keep in package, but now I'll for sure have an open one and hope to find another in better shape (but that's doubtful). I really like the look of the set and love the packaging. It's truly sweet.

Oh, and thanks for the email, Nick, if you happen to see this.

I dove into the pack today to try to open it but still salvage the box for display. I certainly didn't pay $63 for a box, but I have to admit that the box had some influence on this purchase. It displays really nicely as a mini-dio.

Anyway, I found that the key to opening this is cutting or removing all the tape that touches the plastic window. Once you do this, it will actually come right off pretty easily.

The bigger pain was getting to to the filecards and accessories under the 2 separate ground pieces. You have to cut the tape away from the plasic tabs on the bottom of the box. There are 4 for each groud piece. You also need to cut the tape down near the river canyon in the display. If you don't do this, you will likely rip up the artwork. Once you have those cut, the groud parts will come right up. You can then remove all the extra plasic crap to make the display nicer.

If you want to take the Flight Pod and Stalker down, you have to remove the ground parts first, then flip up the sides on the inside of the box, then flip up the back panel and cut the tape holding down the plastic supports. I did this because the Flight Pod just didn't look good where it was. The engines were not also on correctly and CC had no helmet. I took Stalker down because he didn't look like he was in a realistic position.

I put all the gear on the figures. The HISS driver is now driving, the gunner is now gunning. The Flight Pod is on the ground up front. Destro was moved back but is still running on the ground. I have Stalker standing on the back of the MOBAT ready to jump. I also added all the stickers and fixed the ones the factory put on very poorly.

In terms of display, it is now vastly improved. The biggest factor was removing all the plastic crap, espessially the stuff that was covering up the nice artwork.

I just got back from target with mine, I'll probably try to open it up this evening. I also got all of wave 11 for $5 each, so not a bad haul today.

Is there supposed to be a shelf date for these? Like Black Friday or something? Just curious as I haven't seen any at 4 Targets in my area.

I gave the DPCI to the employee, they checked the scanner, and they said they were in stock, yanked one of the massive boxes from the store room for me.

I wonder how many of the stores actually have room for something that huge on the shelves in that part of the aisle.

Check the end-caps, that's where they were at my Target. Still not wanting to pay that much for those items, but the box looks cool.

The one I found was on an end cap right above the BA Millenium Falcon and the Clone Wars Voice Changer Helmets.

The one I got was in the same spot as described by Joeczar. I didn't check to see if they had any more in stock, but I may do it this week.
