The great thing about these packs is that the figures I don't want in them will make either great custom fodder or great trade fodder. Nothing completely unusable for once.
Amen, brother! That's what I was thinking as I read the whole thread. Half the figs will become the default version for my collection (actually the default set will be my son's). Some of them might be modified to become even better custom updated Joes to join my own customs. And the rest will all become very well appreciated new parts for customs. Welcomed new additions for each of these reasons, whether actually "new" characters or not.
If I were a completist collection type I might be annoyed at having to own multiples...but for me, whatever is in my son's collection presently (he's not old enough to play with them yet) that gets replaced by one of these, will also sacrifice their parts for customs (except army builders). Can't feel bad about that.
Finally, I like these types of packs (like the first 5 packs) even better than the army builder types, because I can totally see this being a collection starter for some kids out there who missed out on the first waves of some of these.
Edit: for "speeling"
