Sometimes Hasbro throws things at us that aren't easy to categorize as figures or not. I see animals as figures, not accessories. Others see them as accessories. Some stuff, though, is even harder to decide. Maybe they deserve "figure" status, maybe the don't.

There are four that come to mind:

1. Molded "Hawk" with the Venomization Chamber

Why it should be a figure: we know who it's supposed to be, maybe. In the hard-to-watch DVD, we learn that Hawk becomes that Serpentor-wannabe, Venimous Maximus. Incidentally, I prefer to call Venimous Maximus "Crazy Larry". Seems to fit better.

Why it shouldn't: No file card, no articulation.

2. Sled Guy

Why it should: Any character daring enough to wear burgundy and a neckerchief deserved a nod.

Why it shouldn't: He's wearing burgundy and a neckerchief. Plus, no file card and no articulation. And he apparently likes to spend a lot of time under Grunt while smiling.

3. Strangler Vines

Why it should: Kind of poseable. The Strangler Vines are named on the package and are semi-sentient.

Why it shouldn't: It's a plant.

4. Montezuma's Corpse

Why it should: Kind of poseable. Named on the packaging. Used to be alive. Even has a removable crown.

Why it shouldn't: It's a corpse toy. That's a diorama piece, unless it's a zombie figure.

What do you think?

Battle Luge Guy had gotten excellent diorama use in one of the most interesting dios of all time. ;-)

Even if a figure has no usable articulation at all, with a little ingenuity, you'd be surprised how it may be animated.

Who's Sled guy?

Does that make Crankcase, Grand Slam, and the HISS Trooper only half-figures? ;-)

If you look closely, Battle Luge Guy uses Spy Troops Tunnel Rat's design. He's just painted all burgundy.

I'm trying to translate the poll and I'm not sure I'm reading it right.

It's an either/or question and you have yes/no answers. I don't know what I'm saying if I pick "yes" - am I saying "yes, they're figures" or "yes, they're diorama pieces"?

To me they're all Dio pieces.

Yeah, I could've explained the poll a bit better. "Yes" is if you consider them figures and not diorama pieces. It's all the drinking, you know. :-)
