That's why I suggested to Mark some years ago to look for the unusual titles. I remember telling him to check for auctions that say " Space Base", when you are looking for Terrordromes. He did, and found a nice one.

Takes a little thinking outside the box. Try to imagine what someone with toys they are unfamiliar with, how they would describe them in simple terms. Might find gold that way.

yeah, recently at work I met someone whose hobby is going to garage sales and buying toys. He used to flip them on eBay alot but basically he just liked buying/selling toys and doesn't really follow the market for any of his aquisitions.

He's trying to off-load a ton of vintage figures/vehicles and I've directed him to all the joe sites I can think of but I haven't seen him register yet. I know he has a prestine white Skystriker complete with parachute that he picked up at a garage sale for a few bucks years ago, my jaw dropped when he showed me the pics. It's a real pity I'm out of the vintage market now. He has a second baby on the way so he's got to get rid of the boxes and boxes of 80s toys he's collected. I even offered to help him match up accessories for nothing because I love doing that stuff.

Personally I feel guilty,1) that I know he doesn't know the real value that he has and 2) that I obviously want to pay as little as I can to make as much profit as I can off of it. So I haven' taken advantage of this resource.

I guess there's quite a few people who just like to buy and sell and dont really know about the true value of the stuff they come across.

Wow

Just a little gripe - EBAY why hast thou required me to make an account! Grrr I would really like to see the pictures....

My uncle bought a barn and field at an auction, bad area hard to farm and couldn't develop - he wanted a place to park some cars (does everyone have a rich uncle?) Well he found $400,000 worth of antiques in a basement room in the barn it looks like everyone forgot about. I guess some people are lucky enough to snag deals every once and a while.

How true. I love going to yard sales, thrift stores, fleas and finding all sorts of neat junk, not just toys. The deals are there to be found, just gotta be in the right place, at the right time.

Even though there are multiples of each figure for sale, the photos are the same; Note the same "$2.00" markered on both the seperate "Scarlette" cards and the exact same price tag stickers and residue on the others. Something seems really fishy about this deal. Who knows what's actually going on here.

Yeah, but I'd be thrilled to be ripped off for like $40 trying to get old joes on card. It'd be worth it to take the shot. I'm curious what the guy who bought em will report.

Then again, I also happen to know Deathwing bought a bobafett on revenge of the jedi card for five bucks from one of his "friends" not mentioning its ridiculous worth.

so beware. . . LOL

Actually it was a buck, The guy use to work in our school district, he found out that I collected and traded toys and approached me wanting to sell a bunch of Star Trek TNG 3 3/4" figures from the 90's, a super-large(life size) gremlin model and 11 star wars figures he "bought at the same time", I my mind I figured it was the mid 90's re-release. He gave a list with the each lot and the price he was charging me, 35 ST for 45bucks, 11 SW figs for 11 bucks and the gremlin for 20bucks, wrote him a check and he dropped the stuff off the next day. I was quite suprised to fine the Boba Fett, cloud car pilot and chewie on the revenge cards, along with some other nice figs.....I sold them all about a year after that........ ;-)

Do we know who the buyer is and where he would post about what happens?

It seems legit because why would someone do this for $5 a piece? He could have put $50 a piece and they would have sold just as fast and made 10 times what he is making now.

I'm sad though :-(
