1997, all repaints and certainly not too bad.
Let everyone know what figure you like best (and please explain why)!

I really dig the Lady J in those colors. Inspite of the lower quality plastic, which they all suffered from, she is by far my favorite of this bunch.

I had to go with Stalker. Of all the figures, he was the best upgrade in tems of paint. His new look was true to the original, but more modern and complex. I actually like the black beret he sports, too. If I'm looking for an early construction figure, this Stalker is often the first I think of. Ace was pretty decent, too, but still not quite up to the '93. So, Stalker wins overall.

I went with Storm Shadow. Interesting color scheme using the original molds. Lady Jaye would be a close second, and would've been first if the camouflage paint hadn't been so poorly applied it rubbed off on one's fingers.

I'm torn between Ace, General Hawk, and Storm Shadow.

Ace is the best color scheme used on a great yet poorly utilized mold.

General Hawk had great detail on his jacket but his flesh tone sucks, but that's not paint so does that count?

Storm Shadow was an excellent re-paint - cause they didn't have to do it - they didn't have to add an intricate design - but they chose to and it makes the figure special.

I think I'll go with Ace. It doesn't have a lot of paint Aps - but the repaint of Ace provides me a viable version of a mold I would otherwise have not allowed into my Joe-Verse.

Lady Jaye-the new scheme is both nice and functional.

Stalker got my vote. Some of the figures were bad, but Stalker was great. The darker flesh tone worked much better with the cheaper plastic. The overall color scheme was better than the '82/'83 version.

See my avatar. I think Short-fuse is the one that most blends in with the 82-83 guys, and aside from the ill-fitting helmet, had all his original equipment and then some - a painted backpack and extra bazooka.

None. Eventhough I didn't have any other versions of some of those characters at the time, I still have no fondness for any of them

The quality was so poor, they would fall apart if you just looked at them funny :-/

If we got the versions shown in the card art and the ones on the back of the Stars & Stripes box, it would be a different story.

The black Rock 'n' Roll variant is pretty neat (if you have one) :shifty:

In another " do I really got to pick one " year. I went with torpedo. If the actual figs that hit retail were the same as the mock ups it would have been a tougher choice.

Definately Stalker. Excellent camo-update, a real jungle look.

Iceberg is my favorite of the 1997 repaints, I liked how he now had a proper winter camo uniform rather than the baby blue jacket. Also having his M60 in black was fantastic, thought the white version he sported originaly never bother me much. I do miss the red patch on his left arm, and the green highlights on his gear, plus the molded on pistol on his chest was not painted in/ masked properly.

Still it was nice to another figure of using the classic mold even if he was never as popular as Snake Eyes or Flint.

Someone returned that '97 lady jaye in a DVD set at a walmart near me. same sculpt, paint scheme, etc. but no accessories. and also took destro and replaced him with a 97 era one, and put a stikfas figure in place of the weather dominator.
