Probably the Best CObra Ground Vehicle made.

not only does it up the weapons potential of the original Hiss with missiles, several guns, side lazers, but it has Two controllers, a cool looking dop down cockpit, and Troop carrying capabilities, able to hold a Fire Team!

only gripes I could think of were the colors,.. it probably would look much better in Black.

I idin't know the troop area slid out of that. 8-O

In any event, I don't like this vesion of the HISS. I prefer the v1, personally and it's in large part to the LOLHUEG gun on the top of the v2 HISS. It's too big, fakey, knock-off looking for me.

I hate the 1983 HISS and all of it's repaints. I know it's like a taboo to admit that but I've never liked it and never will. The thing plain, boring, and somewhat looks like a shoebox on treads.

The HISS II, on the other hand, was awesome. The design, the sculpt details, the cannon, the troop carry gig; it was a kick ass vehicle.

The HISS II is the Empire Strikes Back of COBRA vehicles. Sometimes the sequel really is an improvement on a good thing.

I've loved the HISS 2 since I was a kid. Never been able to get one in good shape, though (either the shell is horribly discolored or the treads are broken and don't fit on right). I'd REALLY love to get a HISS 2b, but I'm not willing to pay the crazy prices.

The thing I never liked about the HISS II was all the detail parts on each side. It made it look too futuristic and almost Battle Force 2000-ish. If they were to remake it and smooth out some of those "electronic boxes" all over it, it would look much better. The one just below the gun station, the one just above the missile on the side, and the one on the front just behind the small guns. Get rid of those "details" and yeah make it black, then we'd have a cool looking HISS tank.

You nailed it. I never thought of it in those terms, but good analysis.

I love the original HISS above all.

The HISS II is okay, but it's always been too fragile and "techy" for me. I had 2.5, but sold one at the Con a few months ago. I much prefer my collection of originals.

The H.I.S.S II is the '34 Cadillac V16 of Cobra armor. The H.I.S.S. I is the '77 Toyota Corolla.

I think the triple-gunned turret is a slight bit of overkill, but overall the II is tops. DTC H.I.S.S. is also a good piece.

If i were to bother with a H.I.S.S. I in terms of a place in my collection all it would serve as is a prime mover or AAA piece.

You guys are selling me on this one. I'd prefer to see either the body (or red parts -- or both) in black. And a clear canopy.

The HISS II was a very cool idea, but I didn't care for it. Sure, it's got room for two drivers, seatbelt clamp, a lowering cockpit the way HISS I's did in the comic, and troop carrying capaicity. However, I hated the plastic it was made from. It felt cheap and seemed destined tom split. The troop seat thing never slid out smoothly. The main tri gun was absurdly large. And the thing seemed to be made of Jack Kirby/John Buscema mad scientist technology.

I would be real curious however, to see what the current team (who retooled the VAMP, RAM, etc.) at Hasbro could do with this if they wanted to.

Ditto that, though I still do think the vehicle is one of the best vehicles even in its original (HISS II) shape, despite all the electro-detailing. A tank combined with the troop carrying feature is just killer!

Agreed. The HISS II I think is only hampered by the fact that it doesn't carry the HISS vibe by not matching. I'd love to see it recolored to perfectly blend with the original. I'd probably like the side guns to also be black and the missiles....? I would probably still want those in red, but a red much more like the Stinger missiles.

It is a great mold, but I don't think it has ever met its potential.

And this, to me, is the great mystery. We know that Hasbro had/has access to the mold but it was never utlized as a retail vehicle. How much better would the OCS have been with a recolored Hiss II? It could even have been done in the classic black and been a full scale winner of an exclusive for some retailer.

In fact, I have never bothered to acquire a vinage Hiss II as I don't care for the colors and just sort of assumed that, at some point, there would be a better colored repaint offered in the modern line. I still wouldn't rule it out, though the constant appearance of the V1 Hiss mold and the DTC Hiss mold suggest that a Hiss II repaint is not on Hasbro's agenda.

I just recently purchased my first HISS II on eBay. While I agree that the mold is a little overdone with 'stuff', the only real issue I have is with the guns being too sci-fi. I absolutely love the fact that the tank holds two in the cockpit and has troop space. As mentioned, produce this thing in better colors and it rocks. A different gun (or at least an added gunner canopy) is probably too much to ask for, but would be the finishing touch.

Absolutely. And the upcoming Target exclusive Ultimate Battle Pack again comes with an original HISS mold in red because that has been a pretty popular item. As of that release, there will be four different red HISS tanks and...zero red HISS II tanks.
