Looking at the images of the upcoming Short Fuse, I was really let down to see that the character didn't even rate high enough with the Hasbro design team to merit its own head. Sure, it's an exclusive. This apparently leaves only existing parts to work with. In all fairness, the Doc head is a pretty good choice- at lease SF will be in glasses. By shifting the skin tone, it won't look like the Grunt/Flash/Grand Slam "we're triplets" head.

The Short Fuse/Zap harness isn't even work making it seems. My frustration with this is that there are so many intricate harnesses being made. The Para-Viper harness or the Snow Serpent gear is just incredible. Even the Cobra Bazooka Soldier has its own unique gear.

Is anyone else bothered by this?

I'm with you all the way. Short-fuse was my first Joe and to see that he doesn't merit at least a unique head, let alone somewhat accurate gear is horrible.

Yeah I'd like it to be unique but the joes were all recycled with eatch other back in 82, so I dunno I guess it really is not too important to me, I was not thrilled w/ RnR and Flash's heads but hey one thing I have figured out here is it's ok to customize a figure

The head of Short-Fuze was re-used with Flash, Hawk, and Steeler. Short-Fuze's arms were shared with Grunt, Hawk, Snake Eyes, Stalker, and Zap (and in 1983, Tan Grunt v2). Short-Fuze's torso was shared with Zap. Short-Fuze's waist-piece was shared with twelve of the original fifteen figures. Short-Fuze's legs were shared with Breaker, Clutch, Grunt, Hawk, Rock N Roll, Stalker, Steeler, and Zap (and in 1983, Tan Grunt v2 and in 1984 Tan Clutch v2).

I think the thing that honks me off most is that the web gear they made for the new Dusty figure in the DVD pack is like a single cross-strap away from being Short Fuze and Zap worthy. But they couldn't be bothered to get some additional mileage out of that newly molded piece. Instead, they focused on newly molded gear for yet another version of Snake Eyes in the other DVD pack.

Frustrating.

Yeah Hasbro's slacking is starting to show it's ugly head. Their pattern of behavior always seems to be they do great for the first 7 innings of a game and then screw it up in the final innings and lose the game. It's too bad.

A great anology. My favorite baseball team and the toy company I buy most of my stuff from have the same MO. No wonder I support them both.

Hasbro = New York Mets

For all the wrong reasons...

This is how I feel. I'm pretty happy making my own choices about who's who in my Joeverse after spending a childhood where Flash, Starduster and Steeler were all brothers and Stalker looked like two different guys depending on if he was in the Arctic or not.

I was going to say this very same thing...except it would read:
Hasbro = Seattle Mariners :roll:
