I'm one of few people who actually really enjoys the Battle Wagon. Sure, it's big and unrealistic, but it looks like some Mad Max style post apocalyptic killdozer (probably would have made a better Dreadnok or Cobra vehicle, though).

Yeah, I can't get into this thing, despite fiddlin' with two of Liftoff's. It's just too big for its design, which is basically just an armored VAMP. If it were sized down to a medium vehicle, it'd be great; but as a big vehicle it just looks weird.

I am of two minds about it.

For a military unit like GIJOE, I just can't imagine the Battle Wagon being a prominent part of the order of battle.

It's a gimmick vehicle and can't be taken seriously in the JOEverse. It's too big to transport by air, rail, or main (occupied) roads. The only way I can accept it is as possibly a vehicle that is assembled in an area (say at a desert hq or at an Arctic base like Antartica) and stays there on permanent assignment. Or rolls off a cargo ship.

But on the other hand, Cobra could use it as a juggernaut type assault vehicle, and the Dreadnoks could use it (Thrasher finds the frame of a discarded monster truck body in the junkyard and builds it up after watching Mad Max for the umpteenth time).

I thought it was ok. It suffered from the bad colors a lot of those vehicles had at that time. The main issues I guess I had was that it had a lot of junk all over it and didn't really hold enough troops for how big it was. I have a couple of big trucks that I got cheap and had thought about doing an update eventually.

Hmm, no thanks.
As said, it would've been better making it Dreadnok and adding a bulldozer or shovel on the front.
It just has too many guns and that hidious rocketlauncher...........bah!!!

Btw, King of Pain, these are great discussions!

This was the only Joe vehicle left in stock (2 of them) in my KB until it closed in 2001.

Resounding Huh!

I never could get my motor to work and my mom took the launcher because it actually had soem oomph to it. Granted mine was second hand (in the box) from a goodwill. Also I lost about 6 really good weapons into it through the cab.I was young making recovery impossible.

I have never liked this piece of ordnance, however to counterpoint with some "rolling hunks of pig-iron" * I do like....(and some I don't):

Rolling Thunder
Thunderclap
Mobile Command Center
The General
Transportable Tactical Battle Platform

Just saying, it has several precedents (prior to 1991) in the comic and toy joeverse (not as sure about the cartoon cannon, and I am not sure if the General ever showed up in the comic)

*Cross Country to Sgt Slaughter issue #51(?) when taking on the Dreadnoks and the Thunder Machine

Gotta go with "FAIL" on this one. To me,it's a Tonka truck that somehow snuck into the Joe line. Too big,too chunky.

I'm a child of the 90s, so this may not be a big surprise: I love this thing. Yeah, it's unrealistic, but that rocket launcher was powerful enough to kill a man, it seemed. That made it awesome then, and now those memories are what it keep it that way.
