I'll take "things we never wanted from the G.I. Joe Brand" for $1000 Alex.

I know they're scrambling to get more product out into the marketplace. But I think this is just the wrong thing for G.I. Joe. I won't be buying these (unless they do a Rock 'n' Roll which will be the ONLY one I buy) and honestly I just don't see the appeal.

And I feel sorry for the kid on Christmas morning expecting some cool G.I. Joe action figures and opening one of these from Aunt Trudy. Oh the disappointment on little Billy's face...

Just wait until we get the Snake Eyes/Dragonfly or Duke/Skystriker transformers. Everything they are doing now with GI Joe is the same thing they did with Star Wars - little HERO figures, Mighty Mugs, etc. - which still p*sses me off (concentrate of the figures, and forget about "new marketing strategies"). But, I can't blame Hasbro, when the collectors buy anything they put on the shelf. All I hope is the GI Joe crowd steers away from the initial offerings, and Hasbro lets the line die and decides to just sticks with figures and vehicles.

I still remember the mumbling in the room at the JoeCon Hasbro seminar when they showed these. The Hasbro guys acted so excited and the fans were just the opposite. These things will die quickly I predict.

Some of this stuff will sell. Some fo it won't. The Adventure Heroes or whatever they call them sell to a different demographic. Kids like these and they are approriate for a younger age then regular Joes. Plus They look so cute that regular collectors will pic up a few. That is a win win in my book.

GI Joe Transformers? Collectors who buy Joes usually also buy transformers. Gi Joe and Transformers have had cross over comics together. Chances are good the same person who will buy Snake Eyes and Cobra Commander will buy a Snake Eyes that transforms inot a motorcycle and a HISS that transforms into the Commander.

Mighty Muggs? Ok, I don't get this one but there is a trend for vynl plastic character oriented figures. It is pretty niche market and I doubt the same kids or collectors would buy this. Then again there are character collectors like people who collect Rock n Roll or Cobra Commander or Outback who will at least buy one.

But I like that Hasbro is at least treating the property like the rest of its action figure properties. Gi Joe deserves some of the same things that Star Wars, Marvel, and Indiana Jones get. Not everything mind you, but at least some of it. I hate that one of Hasbro's best properties always gets the shaft when it comes to corporate support. This at least shows they feel Gi Joe is at or near a peak as the movie approaches. If we weren't getting all of thsi stuff I'd be worried.

Do you really need "Hi-Res" pics of Mighty Muggs? aren't crayon drawings just as detailed?

clearly I would enjoy fecal matter sculpted into the shape of joes more than mighty muggs

pluv makes a good point. I'm really glad that the higher-ups at Hasbro are taking notice of G.I. Joe as a brand and not treating it like the red-headed step-child its been for the past few years. I do however think they are trying a little too hard.

The Combat Heroes are nice and something I know they've been trying to get done for a while now. While not my usual thing I will be buying these when they hit. The SDCC exclusive SE and Timber were just too cool to pass up and they are a fun idea for little kids. I can definitely see myself giving these to my nephews for Christmas.

Mighty Muggs however are something I just don't get. You can't get hardly any of the characters defining attributes in a simple paintjob on a smooth rounded deformed figure. Its just not appealling and I don't understand how they could be so popular and sell so well that Hasbro is expanding their Mighty Muggs offerings.

Well,I've been collecting Joe since 1982,and I'm going to pick up at least 2 of the Mighty Muggs-CC and Duke,so there must be a few other collectors that will want these.............

I don't care for the Muggs either - but I do own one. Boba Fett. It was bought for me as a gift and at first my thought was "I don't want this" - but now, as I look at it in my Fett-Case, I kinda like it. I wouldn't collect an entire line of them - but my fav character?... I could see some doing that.

Exactly. If they do Rock 'n' Roll I'll buy one for my RnR character collection. But that's probably it. Unless they find a way to make v.1 Deep Six look awesome.

I've been tempted bythe Mighty Mugg Mola Ram and The Hulk but none have tempted me as much as Cobra Commander. He's just so cute! If they do a chrome head Destro I may have to bite.

I've done the same thing with the Mighty Muggs line, cherry picked a few choice characters. I think what appeals most to me is for once, you have a series of toys across multiple properties with exactly the same size, styling and articulation. They also release characters that dont get as much merchandising as others. Say what you will about them, but having a Boba Fett, Dr. Doom and Darth Vader facing off against Captain America, Indiana Jones and Wolverine that look like they go together is a childhood dream come true.

Btw, Just saw this myself, looks like Transformers are joining the party too.
