1989!
Figures from Slaughter's Marauders and Night Force are not in.
Let everyone know what figure you like best (and please explain why)!

Recoil was the pick here, a great uniform and also distinctive glasses.

Good ol' SE V3.
I got him at the same time as my 1988 Storm Shadow and it was one if not my best trip to TRU with my dad.
I still have those from my childhood in excellent condition.

No one can argue that all of these figures come with very interesting accessories

I went with Long Range because I had to vote for someone. Although none of these figures really stand out over the others to me

Rock n Roll was probably the best ARAH original 13 to version 2 figure ever (well next to Hawk at least).

Sure people can argue that SE v2 was awesome, but some folks still love commando SE, and the other 243 versions of SE.

Rock N Roll waited 7 years to get a kickass remake. Loved the tan shirt and camo pants, but I especially loved the side arm that was pinned to his leg. Also this Rock n Roll was far more muscular and true to what the character was!

SE v3 was the only Joe I bought after '86 - and the last Joe I bought during the 20th century (started back up again in '03). I think he's also the only one of my ARAH figs without rusted screws (didn't play with Joes in the tub as a teenager :P )

I went with Recoil. He had a good design, a good look to him, and a good specialty.

However, an EXTREMELY close second would include Deep Six, who really needed an overhaul after that barely-articulated 1984 incarnation, and he looked pretty cool, too!

Payload was cool, too, if not quite as cool as the 1987 version. Still, an overall excellent astronaut design.

recoil, with rock n roll a close second. Idk, i like my guys to look like soldiers, not club DJ's(DeeJay).

Downtown's good for customizing.

course if you put nightforce in there...

I went with downtown ( aka short fuse v2 ). Not alot of winners in theis year for me, I do however love recoils backpack. This is the year the Joes and Cobras really start to take a dive.

88, was the last year i stopped collecting as a kid, not cuz i saw the 89s and was like fhey, it's just at the time i thought i was too grown up for Gi joe, or atleast i was embarrased to keep playing with them. Now i wish i had, but hey, i was wise enough to start back up. ;-)

I picked Recoil for his cool uniform and accessories.

This was a great year for re-makes though. Stalker,Rock 'n Roll,Deep Six,Snake Eyes.....they all got great new versions.

That Rock n' Roll was great figure.

His head sculpt look really old though. Like it was based off of Willy Nelson if he dyed his hair blond.

1988-1991 have some of my favorite Joe figures. This year was tough. Backblast with the awesome knife sheath on his arm is so cool. Rock & Roll and Scoop are favorites too. I wound up going with Recoil for the same reasons everyone put. Except I hate his blue guns.
