...when they finally do make him, it will probably be the cartoon version of him.

In a 5-pack with another Serpentor, Sgt Slaughter, Cobra Commander, and a failed silacrum from the "Arise, Serpentor!" arc.

Or it will be the trippy dream sequence version with the DNA strands.

I'm surprised he hasn't been made yet actually. Since we are at wave 8 and he's still a no-show, does that mean; A) there is other characters more deserving, or B) when he is finally released it will only be available as a limited/special edition (Convention or other release) or the version 2 one?

Yea, I've been growing more and more concerned that if we get Mindbender, it will be one of the ones that they re-conceptualize and put out some fumanchu mastchioed, Lennon sunglass wearing cake eating sumbich in a lab coat. I could live with the lab coat, but I'd still want my tribute dammit.

I suppose Python Patrol Crimson Guard isn't too surprising since they have the molds for a Crimson Guard and have already made generous use of them (then again, they have everyone else from the original Python Patrol, as well, at this point). I guess I always felt that the Python Crimson Guard was always the least impressive of the original Python Patrol because of (a) that bright yellow shirt and (b) he had the least amount of Crimson on him of any Crimson Guard.

As for

A wave for the fans, huh? What fans have been clamoring for Desert Tripwire, yet another Storm Shadow, or better yet, Ripper? They should have replaced Ripper and SS with BATs and Snow Serpents.

Nice that they are single carding red logo troopers for the fans that wanted them, but this should have happened a long time ago, well before they released the trooper mold in twenty different flavors.

Besides buying maybe a Cobra diver, this is a wave I can safely skip.

As for Cobra-La 2, when I went back home a couple of weeks ago, I found my Joe trading cards from the 90's where Crystal Ball was memorialized for dying in the collapse of Cobra-La. In what continuity did that happen??

Personally, not the greatest of news. On the one hand I'm happy to see future plans for this line in place, but couple this with mass distribution challenges of new product and some questionable revision-wave decisions, these things don't seem so exciting:

Ripper - we knew him and Torch were in the pipeline, it's nice to have him single-carded
Cobra soldier with red logo - nice but this mold has been used so much I'm sure the tooling has started to wear away.
Cobra diver - yeah right if we think it's an EEL, it's the same stupid trooper mold with some diver gear I bet.
SS with ninja gear - as opposed to all the other SSs we have with fake ninja gear
PP crimson guard - the ugliest PP figure ever
Desert Tripwire - because there's a large group in the community that has demanded a desert Tripwire for decades and finally Hasbro has listend and aswered their prayers...

Listen n' Fun Tripwire would have been much more appropriate.

Is this really want joe fans wanted???

Make a 5-pack of BATs or more themed 7-packs like the Desert and Arctic set or popular figures yet to be made like Mindbender, Recondo, Ripcord, et. al. - That's what fans want.

I am glad to see Cobra-La isn't dead to Hasbro. Those designs are about the most kid-friendly elements of classic Joe period.
