Here's what I hate about HTS.
Their tracking number seems worthless before the item arrives. I get a tracking number with an email on the 26th saying my order has shipped. Nothing appeared when I did a search of that number. Today I get a result:
Quote:
Electronic Shipping Info Received
The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on September 3, 2008 to expect your package for mailing
In other words HTS charged me, put my stuff in a box. Sent me a notice its on its way when in all likely hood it is still in their warehouse. Then days later they sent an email to the post office. Here I am thinking it was in transit for a few days only to find it hasn't moved at all. Don't be going and giving out shipping notices till things actually trade hands.
I'm going to defend HTS on this point here. This is actually the fault of the USPS, not HTS. The Electronic Shipping Info Received message is an automatic message you get with the tracking number once you print up your postage, if you are doing the "print your own" postage, such as Stamps.com or PayPal shipping. The real fault is USPS hardly ever scans the items until delivery is made, that is why there is no further updates usually, until after delivery. I have this same problem
ALL of the time, anything I drop off at the post office is never scanned. It might get scanned once or twice along the way (but usually not) but is almost always scanned upon delivery. Funny thing, if my local mailman picks up my packages (instead of me dropping them at the post office) he usually will scan them. That is the only time I get an origination scan. Seriously, well under 5% of my packages get a scan while enroute, so if there are no scans, there is no tracking info. USPS leaves a LOT to be desired for detailed tracking info, especially compared to FedEx or UPS.
Sorry, the tracking dilemma is 100% USPS' fault, not HTS. I'm speaking from several thousand packages of shipping experience.
