true, just check hisstank's sightings forum to see how um, overly cooperative/competitive it has gotten.

And I think that is the crux of the problem. Around here, what stock comes in, flies out fast. Walmart put out their first case in almost two months on Friday afternoon or evening (I was in Friday morning) and everything but Duke sold by Saturday morning. I'm in this Walmart daily and I know they haven't been putting stuff out regularly. This is a super-center - a well-traveled super-center. (I can't vouch for the other Walmarts in town as they're not within daily driving distance.)

Target is the same way. Little-to-no stock for weeks on end, a case comes in, and sells out almost instantly. The exclusives never showed.

TRU has stocked twice in the past three weeks - again, stuff sells out immediately.

The only things in abundance around here are comic sets.

If we're still at the point where a number of people have to drive out of their way to get figures, there's a problem.

On the bright side, with fall resets coming up, we may see more stock.

Yep, this is exactly the problem. Stores do have reorders in too, due to having a product that's selling well. From everything I've seen in retail, the faster something sells, the more extra you get in within the next shipments. If there's no products from the manufacturer, then you're just out of luck cause the store can't do anything about it.

That's what I'm seeing in my area. Only 1 or 2 cases make it to a store and goes out. It sells through within that 1 day and there's nothing to replace the figures. No more reorders come in unless it's several weeks later. Then you still end up witht he same problem.

There should be 5 - 6 cases with a follow up of 2 - 4 cases after 2 weeks. This would still sell out, but be enough for those actively trying to get the figures to be able to find them.

I don't know what y'all are complaining about.

My TRU's shelves are WELL stocked! I was in there today and there it was!

About 20 or 30 Sigma Strike Dukes!!

What? You mean there are other GI Joe products? Somebody tell TRU!

I tend to agree Hasbro is at least culpable in contributing to apparent shortages. It's not conspiracy, just a newer kind of marketing, namely creating a buzz. The video game companies have been doing it for years, with the release of virtually every new system.

But it also seems true that most of the collectors getting left out aren't willing to pay more than what they see as the market value for new figures. I'm fully guilty. I avoid buying online, where markups are even worse, and just plain don't use ebay. We just want to be able to go to the store and buy our figures.

Hasbro certainly has it in them to meet demand. They've had no problem supplying boatloads of Indy figures in time for the movie debut. And now that Indy is slowing down, they've been pulling back, with only one small wave left to be released this year.

Meanwhile, i just got this email about a TRU midnight sales event happening in anticipation of Clone Wars. I don't think they'll have any shortage of SW figs.

They're already selling plenty of toys. And Joe isn't clogging the shelves, essentially building a new reputation with retailers who've been burned in the past, who are more likely to see it as a hot seller now. Wonder how the Joe market will look about this time next year?

Just to re-emphasize my point.

Yesterday at noon I hit the Walmart near my work. No joes at ALL.

Today at noon I did the same - there was a lone Torpedo on the peg.

So, at least 1 full case of Wave 9 was put out in the last 24 hours, and 7 of the 8 figures are already sold.

And, following that scenario, Joes will quickly become pegwarmers and this whole Renaissance of Joe interest will be quickly over....

I still think that Hasbro finally has it right. There's obviously enough for most people to get their fill judging by the collections you see and the Ebay activity yet Joes are not collecting dust (with the exception of the comic packs) at most retailers. Seems demand is being largely met without the fear of one bad wave ending the line completely. (Which is what happened with ARAHC and VvV.)

I don't think it would be a problem with that low of shipments. It would detract some of the extra Ebayers, but the regular Ebayers would still be there. They'd still disappear off the pegs. They finally did that with Wave 8 and they're all gone now except for a couple of Vipers at only 1 Wal-Mart here. I'm sure they'll be gone soon. If wave 9 will finally see a decent stock that lasts at least a week, I'll get what I'm looking for and be done.

As for paying extra, I'm doing that when there's a chance to do so. I do have a single wave 9 case on the way. That was my backup if I didn't find them on the shelves. I just ordered the planes from Target and paid an extra $25 for the shipping. So yeah when I'm forced to do so, I'm going ahead and doing it. I just would prefer to see them in store.

I don't see it as a conspiracy either. It's just a marketing idea Hasbro has come up with trying to create a new type of market. I just hope they'll hurry up and figure out a good happy middle ground.
