Last Thursday, Wal-Mart had a set of 6 of the new 12" Joes. This included two Flints, two Bazookas, one Dusty, one Cobra Trooper. I bought the Cobra.

I went back today (Monday) figuring I'd snag Dusty if he was still there.

EMPTY SHELF. And at $14.76, no less. And in this economy.

Reasonable proof of the continued popularity of the 12" G.I.Joe format. Hope I can find Dusty somewhere else...

I don't know if I'd go that far. I've seen a lot of the usual speculators on eBay and elsewhere picking them up, figuring that they'll be as hot as the 25th figures on the secondary market. Locally, they're warming the shelf/peg since they showed up 2 weeks ago.

with them not showing up yet they are hot for ebay. Even though the average 12 inch guy and the average 3 3/4 guy all agree they aren't very well done at all.

Of course there is always the chance that wallmart put them out early and then pulled them all down.

I know locally that kids still ask for 12" figures at TRU. Until we get the new joes (Which I always talk up) they usually buy the BBI figs we have.

I've yet to see them, but I'll buy at least a few of them when I do.

The Wal Mart near me put them out and not ONE has sold in over 2 weeks. So yea Trekker can't say its PROOF when its only ONE store that its selling in. Like I said they've been out for two weeks near me and not ONE has sold.

Is the 12" line needed in this form? With so many changes since the realistic toys went away they would have so much to do.

Different markets, I suppose, roguetiger. It happens. Unfortunate, though.

I also have to disagree that they're not very well done. My only criticism would be that Bazooka's facial expression looks a little more "worried" than "determined" or whatever. I was very pleased with the overall quality of the Cobra Trooper I picked up.

They're selling here but not overly huge. It's really no different than before when they were out. It's like there's a crtain amount of collectors in my area and once they have their's, the rest sit around until kids decide they want them. I've seen them at all the Wal-Mart stores and one of the Target stores. It wasn't until today that I actually saw the Cobra Trooper at Wal-Mart. There was also a single Barbecue sitting there with none of the other figures in sight.

You know what? They can have them. They're ugly, since they started using those molded on clothes, they look like crap. That's one of the reason's I loved the old vintage figures and the modern dragon or BBI stuff(even though I can't afford them), they look so cool with the realistic gear and clothing, not that molded on crap.

Now the vintage Adventure Team stuff, I might get those, just for the good ol' days feeling.

12" never did sell around here. But the new ones right now aren't selling at all. They're sitting with the Adventure Team stuff from last year warming the pegs (just like the comic packs). While the vehicles and singles are flying off the shelves so fast, most people think they were never released here.

I actually suprised they brought them back, at least in the form they did. This version of 12" Joe didn't sell well in recent years. For the most part, they don't appeal to us because we collect 3-3/4", these are too big. They don't appeal to most 12" collectors because they lack detail and are RAH characters which many don't care for. Suposedly the kids like them but at $15 a pop, how many are they going to sell? These seem like a bust all the way around. They also waste shelf space that could be used for more 3-3/4" Joes. :shifty:

Molded clothes=big pass. Plus... all I can think about is with all the plastic they use in the 12" Joes, they could make, like, five of the ones people want.
