I got a request for some pics with Joes sitting in the pod from a poster at JBL, so here ya go:

First up, a 25A Trooper and a TRU Infantry set Trooper. The 25A is simply not fitting in there, due to the long legs they're giving most of the 25A figs and the lack of a proper hip socket allowing him to sit properly. The TRU fits decently enough, altho there's a bit of jiggering to get his fat feet thru the holes. The doors close nicely, if a bit tightly; but the lid doesn't come all the way down. He has a bit of a longer head than is normal for RAH figs, tho.
Image

Next up, VvV GungHo. The doors won't close fully due to his extra-wide shoulders, and this prevents the lid from closing properly. It seems to me he's got enough head room that it'd close if he had narrower shoulders.
Image

Now we try 25A Scarlett. Despite her long 25A legs, she fits well with the doors closed. I'm thinking her thigh/knee swivel joint is helping here. However, her ponytail keeps the lid from closing properly. I'm thinking it's throwing her head forward and having the goggles hit her head; and she's got a thrusting-forward neck as it is already. So, I swapped her head with that of the Dark Woman on the LJ body shown above (despite the different neck ball sizes, the head's just sitting on the neck), and the lid closes fine which I think y'all can see despite the crummy pic.

Lastly we try 25A Comic Hawk, whom I was thinking might work since SE has a more RAH-sized body than the rest of the 25A figs. The doors close fine enough, but the lid doesn't come all the way down. I'm thinking SE's lack of proper sitting hip joints is what's ultimately at fault here as he's pinned into the one position and can't move around any to get everything situated.

I don't think there's gonna be many Joe figs that'll fit in the pod straight out of their packages; but I think there could be quite a few that would fit if they were given a bit of custom work here and there, from nothing more than some parts swapping to shaving out the hip sockets to a fully surgerated figure.

Now that I think about it, I'm surprised this didn't come with a set of 'splayed wheel-toes' feet, for wall-walking. But, with the expense GoodSmile put into producing this, I doubt this is the last we'll see of this mold. I bet they come out with one for Batou, at the very least.

/Now, where's that Retaliator at? I think I want a Jigabachi...

Jigibachi indeed...I'd pass out if they made one in Joe scale.

While it would literally drive me into the po' house, I'd support them re-releasing these repeatedly with different in-scale Section 9 figures. Man I'd love to have the Chief & Togusa to mix it up with everyone else...

Do they ever sell the figures separately, or only with the mechs? The mechs are nice, just not interested in them.

"Do they ever..."

Seeing as how this is the first product in this scale the GitS property's ever seen (that I'm aware of, and I think I am); and it only came out less than 2 weeks ago, it's just too soon to say. I wouldn't put it past them to rerelease the fig(s) alone at some point in the future, but GoodSmille will want to guarantee a return on their investment by waiting awhile to let all the fools like me to throw our money at them.

I wouldn't bet on the figs coming alone. I would think you'd have a better chance of them doing the repaints/remolds like Wave did of the Tachis with the other team members. Though, I wouldn't really count on it either way.

The only other GITS mecha I can think of in any sort of 3 dimensional form is this old(and expensive) model of the Fuchi, which I think is in scale.

Now if they made a toy of that, I might actually plunk down the cash for one. The Fuchis were so much cooler than the Tachis and Uchis. Shame they never got any animated screentime aside from the old THQ game on the PS1.

Yeah, Fuchikomas were one of many little plot bits that didn't make it from the manga to the film.
