Lady bear and I are going for the first time.

I'm almost giddy with excitement, yet I hope to temper my enthusiasm so as to avoid disappointment. Sentiment against MC seems to be at a high (April fool nonsense, Mauler debacle, still no advance knowledge of attendee product or prices, etc). Enthusiasm for the con seems to be at a low. So I guess we'll see how it all turns out.

i highly recommend the JoeArmory/UrbanRev booth.

i bet, if you bring them cokes, they'll give you a business card...or something.

seriously, last year it was the booth to see (and be seen at)

;-)

Since I've never been, a question...

Will they frown on me walking around with my F2000 airsoft rifle? It's just like the one in all the movie posters, so I could say it's part of my costume...

If it's peace boned, they probably won't care. You can peace bond an airsoft gun with a zip tie.

Although I've never been to one, but that's pretty much the requirement at other cons.

I was mostly kidding, but... I've been playing airsoft for some time now and never even heard this term "peace bone" or "peace bond" before. What does that mean?

It means that you make the "weapon" OBVIOUSLY unfireable, such as placing a big brightly colored object in the chamber, a big plastic flower poking out of the muzzle, . when we had to travel on chartered aircraft with real rifles, we placed bright white or blaze orange chamber p[lugs that stuck out through the ejection port.

I'm not sure how you'd use a zip tie. How does that work, J?

Yeah "peace bound" is a term that cosplayers have learned to hate. Basically it means your gun/knife/sword is basically a non-functioning hunk of metal/resin/plastic that you can't use to hurt anyone. Unless you club them over the head...

It's Texas, it's state law that everyone has to carry a gun at all times.

I figured you would know that living there and all.

Hehe, well I meant Peace Bond, I was typing in a hurry on my way out the door to work. Peace Boned would probably mean a whole different thing, hehe.

I've seen it done at gun shows. On a real gun you just run the zip tie through the handle into the chamber and zip it closed. On an airsoft what I've seen them do is just run it up through the area the clip goes and out any opening (usually the release lever) so that it can be zipped. You can't put the clip in to load anything then.
