I'm doing my first real Sigma Six customizing, and I need to know a few things...

How do you get the heads off and back on again?

How do you get the bodies apart and back together again?

How do you swap out arms?

What else do I need to know?

- R

I have done several Sigma 6 customs and I can help you out with your questions.

1. The heads can be removed using the boil and pop method. I heat up some water in the microwave for about 2.30 minutes and then give them a gentle tug. The only thing you have to worry about is stretching the neck peg or popping the neck peg with the head. This can be avoided by insuring that you heat the head long enough to soften it up, but not heat thing neck region.

2. The bodies are actually glued together. Some guys have managed to cut them apart or crack them open. I have never attempted this, though it is similar to the deconstruction of a 25th joe's torso.

3. Lower arms can be boiled and popped. If you want to swap the entire arm, you would have to crack the torso open or cut them at the shoulder ball and repeg them.

4. Joint rub can be a bear on these figures. It is a good idea to sand down the joints so that they do not rub, or create a mask of sealant or super glue over the paint at the joints.

Take a look at http://www.joebattlelines.com/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=45
There are a wealth of Sigma customizers there. Good luck. I have found the Sigmas to be a fun medium. They are large enough to make painting in details like intricate camo patterns easier than the 3.75 figures. I hope this helped.

Hope to see something from you soon! Skull's got you covered with all that. Some people have also popped parts with a hair dryer, but I haven't tried it personally.

Stuff to keep in mind:
Once you boil and pop, you're addicted and there's no help for you.

Never use enamel anything on them. It will forever be sticky. Sealers are also a bear. Some people have success with certain things and others don't. I'm mostly in the "don't" category. If you don't mind gloss, Future floor finish works great. And you can dull it with a brush on acrylic dull coat once it cures to kill the gloss. ;)

Some of my favorite people are action figures.

Out of date but still: http://not-your-average-joe.embarqspace.com

I use Humbrol paint, and thusfar, none of it has been "sticky" on anything 've done.
Testors paint was famous for that - which is why I refuse to use Testors anymore.

Pick up a bottle of Humbrol paint and try that. ;-)

As for Raps getting into customizing Sigma figures.

:rotfl:

It amuses me for some reason. ;-)

Check out this thread at JBL for some great tips on Sigma 6 customizing.

Maybe I should put this in the JCWiki...
