Yeah, more than I hoped for, but I still ordred mine. Got plenty of time to save up for him.

The $119 price tag is a big ole' pile of crap. I won't be buying any of Sideshows stuff if they are going to be living on fantasy island with their pricing. They have been jacking up their prices waaaay too much over the last year and it has stopped me from getting alot of their stuff like Gandalf, Frodo and Samwise, a multitude of Star Wars figures and now it looks like I'll be bailing on Gijoe also. Now if they had more reasonable prices they would of had me for all of the figures I mentioned above and then some. $65 in today's economy is doable, although not great, $119 is almost exactly twice as much as the figure should be.

$120 !?!? I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry at that price. He looks good, but not THAT good.

Really, let's look at this for a moment. I'm youngish, single, have a decent disposable income and am a hardcore Joe fan, yet I won't be buying the figure at this price. So who exactly is their demographic?

So if I want to collect a small team of say the 5 figures they put out (maybe Flint, Duke, Stalker, Beach-Head or whoever they will make) plus a few Cobras , it will cost me roughly $1,000?? Put down the crack-pipe Sideshow, and get over yourselves. :rotfl:

Probably the same people who regularly shell out that much and more for 1/6th scale figures. It's not to my taste, or obviously many of yours, but they do have quite an audience for the stuff and guaranteed it WILL sell.

If you go over the Sideshow Freaks board they are wetting themselves over this thing, with very few descenting opinions. I think Sideshows Target demographic are the fanatics on their boards and that may be about it. If it's not that way yet ,if they keep this up, it soon will be.

Their prices over the last year have really just become ridiculous. It started with the Frodo and Sam from LOTR. I was thinking, okay $65 for Aragorn, these guys are half his size they'll be in the $30 price range. NOPE half the size, same amount of stuff-$55 dollars...WHAT?...a $10 difference in price. Then they jacked up the price for Boromir, Legolas and I just had to stop getting Star Wars except for a very rare few.

I don't know how much Sideshow steps outside of the fishbowl which are their forums. I think if they did they would see an overall unhappiness with their pricing. Sadly some of the people on their boards are so "severe" that if they think that other people are not buying as many figures they'll buy extras to offset the decline.

Sometimes it's a crazy hobby we have.

I'll step in for Mike T here for just a sec (sorry if I'm speaking out of turn for ya buddy)

Classic mistake number 1 that companies other than Hasbro make with the property:

JOE FANS ARE CHEAP.

Remember those awesome prop replicas? Dead, cause Joe fans are cheap.

Busts? Cheap.

Yeah, I'm cheap. I like figures that are $5, and when the community reacts in outrage over a $2 price increase, that's NOT a good sign for a lot of us picking up $120 figures.

That is $10 an inch...I'm not looking to pay that for a glorified dollie.

Sideshow, check with both Palisades and Diamond Select for the easiest route down the drain for expensive GI Joe products...

Isn't that thing?.... I mean, if I had to save up money to buy ONE toy, then I wouldn't bother buying that toy line.

I've spent serious money on toys for my own collection before. The most I ever paid was $150.00 for a 3inch figure. (Star Wars) - it was a good deal - but that's still $150.00 for a toy.

Anyone that has ever complained about spending $200.00 for a Terror Drome, or $200.00 for anything from the original Joe Line - and PLANS on buying these 12" figures....... you need to give your head a shake.

New stuff is cool. But Sideshow does NOT make that great of a product that warrants a $10 per inch price tag.

With that logic, would you pay $37.50 for a new Joe figure?

$70 bucks w/shipping? Sold, but as it is it needs more work.

I have Medal Ceremony Luke, Mace Windu, ESB Han Solo, E3 Anakin and Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon, Plo Koon, and Darth Maul. Also 4 Rebel Commandos.

Every one of those I ordered for $60-80 shipped. $130 (approx. taxes and shipping) for Snake-Eyes? It's like a $60 figure going for twice that much after markup and shipping. For the rest of the Joes they plan to make they better up the quality closer to what's seen in that Iraq Ranger.

2 things:

1) I've paid more than $150 for a figure before and will more than likely do so again. If I have the money I'm likely to drop it assuming the figure is something I really want. I would also be willing to fork over the money if it was a REALLY nicely detailed Cobra Commander instead of BLECH Snake-Eyes.

2) Many 12" collectors routinely pay prices as high or higher than this for well detailed figures. The price wouldn't faze a lot of 1/6 guys a bit.

My only question is whether the crossover between ARAH and 12" fans is great enough to warrant these. I have a feeling the first few will hit clearance pretty quick and that'll be all she wrote, but I've been wrong before. . .

Don't get me wrong, I would KILL to find a sideshow Fett. I collect his items, so I would have no problem buying it. Same goes for a Joker one. But I would never collect an entire line of figures at that price point. I don't think many will. I think Sideshow is banking on the old school 12"ers that still buy all the 12" items and accessories for their Joes to buy these as well. Some will - but it's been my experience that most 12" collectors - don't give a crap about the ARAH stuff. ;-)

Hmmm I bought a Masterpiece Megatron for $119.
So Joes have now reached the price of Transformers. :-|

That price is bad idea. Some will buy them but not the majority. $60 for a Star Wars figure and double for Joes? The price is pretty fair if it was some Japanese highly detailed import.

Are these Joes being done by Medicom or Hot Toys? Their stuff goes for that price and looks incredible. Side Show stuff always seem about average in quality why are they charging premium price for the Joes? Was it to pay for that super bowl spot.
