Actually, Liftoff was kind enough to have not deleted the WIP pics he took for me:


Here you can see I actually took away too much material from both Kane and Shippy. I had to put in a layer of 1mm plexi to rebuild some volume in there so there'd be some contact surfaces in the join.


Here he is just resting together, pre-glueing.

Neat idea...I'm always impressed by the ammount of bashing you'll do to put together a custom...especially considering the ammount of work for some otherwise random character.

Honestly I looked at the WIP pics first and I think I like it better than the finished custom...maybe it's me but Prison stripes are always rather thick...not so much like horizontal pinstripes you've done.

Is there logic to the bolt thingies on his body? I'm not sure they make sense to me...but then I don't know a fig about Absorbing man.

I suppose the last thing could be chalked up to artistic interpretation...but that ball and chain ball is WAY too big...like absurdly big.I think about bowling ball size would be more appropriate than the beach ball size you've got now.

Are you doing anything special to avoid paint chipping at places like the knees and arm joints?

Yup, lotsa sense. 'Sorby's magically powered (by Loki in the regular 616 Marvel Universe - I'm not sure if he's popped up in the Ultiverse yet) to be able to absorb the qualities of anything he touches. He's a Thor villian and he's always trying to touch his hammer so he'll have all the qualities of Mjolnir, including the various magical abilities it has. Failing that, he's always trying to touch some adamantium. Usually, he tries to find a construction area to touch some steel girders; which he's done here and thus the bolts are rivets.

Oh yeah, I they're just pushpins I cut down to be about 2-3mm long and just shoved into him on the soft parts. I had to drill holes in his pectorals and the elbow pins, tho.


Well, it is a prison restraint ball-n-chain so it's supposed to be big to prevent the guy from walking around where-ever he wants to.


Nope, I'm far too lazy for that. I just accept paint chipping as the nature of the beast and go on to the next fig I'm working on. I just have too many wants and ideas to have time to make everything *perfect*, which sucks. I need to quit my job or something.

The chronic leg wobbling is annoying, and it bugs me that it happens even with the spacers in place. Glad you didn't have to deal with it here.

I've always thought he should keep different types of metals on him, so it could be that he had samples implanted under his skin to have them readily accessible.

Really awesome... My only suggestion would to do thicker black stripes on the pants.

Nah, I mean the actual t-bar wobbling in the grip of the abdomen pieces. I cracked an abdomen a while back and found they replaced the o-ring hook with a third stick-ball going up into the guts and encased in plastic to make sure the t-bar is solidly held in place. I dremeled a lot of this third ball down as you can see it's been exposed in the pic looking down into Shippy's pants (oh, c'mon; all you guys know you want to), but haven't noticed any change in the solidity of the hold.

Which, of course, means it's entirely pointless and should be scrapped in favor of moving the moob-joint down to the beltline; which would make the figs more properly jointed *and* not so stretched-out (even tho I think they could rectify that by simply not having 3mm of air between the bottom of the moob hinge and the t-bar's encasement.

And, thanks everybody. Who else runs around barechested but wearing pants that I could do this to again?
