Ah, Spirit's just been down because an evil land devoloper is trying to steal his family's land. Don't worry, Ernest will save the day!

Since apparently someone thought my post was a violation of the "Respect" rule, I'll clarify that it was posted in the spirit of... well... Spirit being unhappy with his latest incarnation.

What's funny is, with Hasbro short shipping the figure (or figures since all 25th is in the same boat), it looks like the figure is real popular. Due to stores only getting 1 case and 1 figure of most per case, everyone is going crazy trying to get him. Once he's been bought, everyone seems to have the same reaction. I still haven't seen him in store yet.

Only thing I don't like, is he can't hold his gun. I repainted a few things on the fig, to make him look more like the original and I'm pleased with him(besides the gun issue).

I don't know what to tell you... I don't see why the folks who are saying that the new Spirit figure is "too indian" looking. I've never liked the figure or character design, because I've always found it to be astonishingly racist. Why in the world would an american Indian carry around a GUN that shoots ARROWS, and wear a loincloth over his pants, and have ass length hair in braids, all when he is supposed to be in the military. The only thing goofier than that is Bazooka with his stupid football jersey. Crap, the only thing they missed was a tiny little whiskey bottle accessory. Hey, his playset could have been a wigwam.

Looking at both Spirit & Red Star (at online pics only, I don't have them in hand,) their faces look very similar. Obviously Spirit has the sculpted hair but they look alike to me.

You guys see that too?

My only problem with the 25th Spirit is that his hair is only painted up to about an eighth of an inch close to his face. That little flesh colord gap bothered the HECK outta me!

Until I took 5 seconds and painted it. Now I love the figure.

For the same reason basically *NO* Joe character wears a proper uniform - they want to wear what they want to wear when they're on-mission and they're such badasses the brass lets them. As to why Chuck chooses that particular outfit, I'd say it's a 'redemption' issue like how black folks are trying to redeem the n-word (and considerations of how effectively either issue works is irregardless to questions of their motives).

Plus, he gets to hear the COBRA Troopers crying all the way back to the T-Drome about how they got their asses kicked by a stereotype!

Frankly, I don't see anything racist about the outfit at all. Indian Scouts wore very similar outfits back in the day, and he's just wearing something similar to what his granpappy wore, quite possibly even wearing some of the very same items like the loincloth.

You wouldn't call Congressional Medal of Honor recipient William Alchesya stereotype, would ya?

Hey now...

btw who had the kahonas to report beav's post on his site? :rotfl:

Yes G.I. Joe is psedo-military, we gotta stop taking ourselves so damn seriously, so what if Bazooka wears a red Jersey, why does Lightfoot wear a bright yellow suit and carry a blue vaccum-cleaner-thingie? Why is Ninja Force a part of the military? Why is nearly every joe medic a sterotypical pacifist? Why do they cram Heavy Duty down our throats when Roadblock fits the bill? We need to get over it.

Spirit is as iconic to G.I. Joe as Grunt is in his plain olive drab greenshirt uniform. There's no G.I. Joe without Snake Eyes, there's no G.I. Joe without a bubble gum blowing Breaker, and there's definitely no G.I. Joe without an awesome tracker like Spirit Iron-Knife - why does he have to wear fatigues or marine dress blues?

I agree with this post. Never hunted down a vintage Spirit for this exact reason. I'll get the 25th just to complete the line, and for a good laugh.

that's exactly how I see it and exactly why Spirit's outfit doesn't bug me and never has. (P.S. I actually LIKE the new Spirit figure.)
