Ok, here's the idea I have but obviously it will only work if there is enough interest. It's not that I dont like the 25th line or anything but I miss all the awsome customs of ARAH line of fig's and they have been very few and far between lately. So here is what I propose. I want to set up a contest that who ever wants to enter can either make a brand new custom or use a previous shown custom your choice. Everyone who wants to enter sends me the custom ( which will be mine to keep ;) ) then I will make a poll and all the customs will be voted on. I was thinking of doing the voting myself but didnt want any thinking I'm picking favorites. I have 4 types of fig's that you can do and if you want you can have multiple entries.

1. Joe/Cobra pilots
2. Joe swat/MP members
3. Joe/Cobra Divers
4. Dreadnok members ( new charaters only )

I have an idea for 2 prizes and would like to get 10-12 people into it. if it gets to 15 I'll add another prize 3rd place and every 5 new entries I will add another prize.

frst prize
MOC 25th ann snake eyes with black timber

second prize
Complete loose v1 bats and a wave 7 25th ann viper either moc or loose your choice.

So what does everyone think good idea or bad idea?

So 10 people send you custom figures and only two get something in return?

Hmmm, sounds, um,..... yeah..........

Well thats the whole contest part of it. Thats why I was throwing it out there as an idea. And I wasnt throwing out junk prizes. But thanks for your input... I guess I'll chalk your vote up for bad idea :)

....it was a good idea right up until 'I keep the customs.' I can see something along the lines of the two contest winners send you their customs in exchange for the prizes, or you send back the non-winning customs, but as it stands, it doesn't sound like too great of an idea.

Darko.. that was my original idea was to just keep the top 2 winners and return the others. But I figured throwing up a higher valued prize might make it more like a lottery type contest and it would be more like a chance of winning vs either winning or getting the custom back. I understand the point of people not wanting to either make a custom or sending off a already made custom to possibly get nothing in return. But I also though maybe people might have one laying around that they wouldnt mind useing something they have laying around taking up space. So any idea how I can run it to get all the customs ;)

Also if anyone else has any ideas on the set up I'll still provide the prizes no matter how the contest is run. Just dont want all you guys converting to 25th and forgetting what brought you here.

I am up for something along these lines, as one of the site's last few ARAH promoters, but I am REAL stingy with my customs, because they are my babies. I wouldn't enter a contest that winning means giving up my baby... Especially since there's very few things that could be offered as a prize that I would really be after. I'd do it just to do it and pass on the prize, as long as I could keep my custom (all this assuming I were to win anyway - which I wouldn't).

But that's me. Some people are very generous with their customs once they are finished with em.

I think it would be a good idea if you ask to just have digital pictures of the customs sent in to be judged instead of the customs themselves.
Also would the entries be limited to using just ARAH parts? Also is there going to be a prize for each category? If not then why have categories at all, just make it a general customizing contest.
Some good potential here if you are seriously wanting to host a customizing contest. To keep the cost low or nonexistent you could do away with the prizes and just have people compete for the skill and recognition.

For the time and effort put into a winning custom, I think a SE w/Black Timber is a very weak 1st Prize.
(besides, I read that one is being released again in a future wave)

Switch the contest to sending you "pictures" of the customs and you keep the "pictures", and then the contest would be OK. :whistling:

These are all good points I agree with too.

Funny, I just finished a contest like this- make a custom, send it in, and the guy hosting it gets to keep the figure win lose or draw. I wanted to be a part of it to support the site, but didn't want to send a great figure. So I made a really simple custom, and sent that- something I was willing to part with. I think in the end the guy wound getting 6-8 customs.

Wow I didnt think a $100 fig was a weak prize but i guess I was wrong. I honestly didnt mean to insult anyone with it. I know some of the big guns that do commissions charge $20-25 a custom so I thought it was pretty fair. And also i havent heard about him being released again in the future.

As far as the contest, I think the majority agree that only the top 2 would have to give up their custom for the prizes or if no one wants prizes just do it for bragging rights. I would want it to be only ARAH parts no new sculpt or 25th ann. And as far as the catagories it can be a fig out of any of them. Thanks for all the input from everyone and lets try to get something going with this. Suggestions are def welcome and lets try to get the details set by the end of the month. And I was also thinking that if we determine a winner by the end of the month ( june ) I can take the winning custom ( unless the winner is going also ) to the con and enter it in the con custom contest ( under the winners name ) and if it won we could split the prize from that.

Ok let me be the blunt one:

Why does anyone have to give up thier custom? A few people have round about asked it, so I will ask it directly. It makes no sence and comes accross as something else.

Basicly I am asking why you are wanting to keep it?

Thanks for suggesting this - I agree with what LS said. This could be a great idea, but we need to rethink the rules a little bit, as I don't think anyone would feel totally ok with one person keeping all the submitted customs to themselves and submitters not getting anything in return.

Submitting pictures of the customs and getting rid of the winning prize is a solution, however it takes away the extra incentive which could make this contest even more fun.

I can't think of an elaborate solution right now but I'll definitely keep an eye on this topic and submit more suggestions once I can spend more time over it.

Hey, I guess I didnt think ahead of time that people would be upset or miffed about giving up the customs. I thought if I offered the prizes up it wouldnt be as bad but I do understand. I guess it was a bad attempt at trying to basically trade some stuff I had for customs and do it in a fun way, but guess it sounded better in my head than presented out. I hope no one is offened by this. It was just an half good idea presented badly ;-)

plus I suck at customs and I often pm here and other boards plus use ebay to buy customs. So basically didnt really think it out before I posted it. Sorry guys. I'm def still willing to give a prize to the winner and we can do it basically, make a brand new custom using 1 of the 4 catagories I listed post the pics in the new thread I make and the board will vote for the winner and i guess that seems the most simple??
