Hey guys,

I apologize for bringing up a topic that I'm sure has bee ndone to death and - believe me - I looked into past threads for the answers I need.

As a customizer I always stressed two features that all my work had to have: first, is playability. The second is blending in. Any custom I do has to fit with the correlating line it comes from, or else it's just "something else".

The problem I personally have run into time and again is sealing. Krylon matte finish, Testors Dullcote... while they're good, they always seem to take away something from the custom that relegates it to outsider status, whereas I want it to be indistinguishable from it's hasbro produced brethren.

Does anyone have any tips on this? I realize this is beating a dead horse, but I am getting back into the hobby and would like to start on the right foot. :-D

Thanks,

Tom

I think it's all in the paints...the acrylics you get from Walmart just don't have the durability to stick to Joe plastics...even with a primer or basecoat.

I've recently done a couple customs using a Sprayed on basecoat of Krylon (in one case it was Flat White) and then used Tamyia acrylics to paint the whole figure yellow and then do the details...I used Airtight arms so didn't paint arms...but I've had no problems with paint chipping or rubbing aroudnt he waist and thighs. No need to seal.

Basicly with paints...you get what you pay for
