Does anyone know where to find a ball or two halves about that size? Maybe at a craft store or other place? I have a custom planned and that's one of the most important pieces.

I know they sell smaller ones at Michael's (people use them for Republic Gunship turrets), but I've never seen any that size...of course, I haven't been looking, either.

Try the baby sections of TRU or drugstores. Some dummys come in clear plastic sterilising balls that are about 4 to 5 inch diameter.

The hamster ball is about the correct size, but they usually have vents, which wouldn't look right. I'll have to take a trip to Michael's and Hobby Lobby to see what they have. Maybe I'll grab a couple of smaller ones too for make the pods for my gunships :D

along the lines of the baseball holder mentioned above, I just opened up a baseball toy for my son where the ball part was encased in a 2 part plastic protector. When put together, it would not form a completely enclosed ball, but is mostly in ball shape, with I think one partial opening. It is roughly baseball size (perhaps just a bit smaller, since this is an infant toy).

I was just about to pitch this plastic with the rest of the box, then thought it might come in handy for something to custom. Don't mind if it's for something productive for someone else, so let me know if it sounds right.
