After seeing Midgarn's Fast Draw custom, I knew I needed to steel his idea for straps (reversing the Cobra Officer straps) for a Flash figure.

Although I'm pleased with Hasbro's attempt, I would have love to have seen a removable chest pad on Flash. So now that I am planning this, I need your opinion.

Would you rather see:

A) Removable straps only. Keep pads on the torso like the Hasbro figure

or

B) Removable straps and chest pad.

C) other

Please vote and comment if you have any suggestions. If you need to see my WIP of the straps, just let me know

Along with the chest, I plan on changing the collar and upper arms on the figure as well, but the straps and chest pad are my biggest obstacle.

I say go for removable everything. I made removable straps/pads on my first 25A Flash with mixed results. They looked a little sloppy (no doubt due to the rush job I seem to do on all my customs):

I wasn't too happy, so when I got a regular 25A Flash, I used it instead (with some tweaks):

But I'd still love to try removable pads again. My original pads consisted of Green Stuff sculpted onto a JvC Dusty web harness (sans grenades) - I used tape as a backing until the GS cured (it also helped to conform the pads to Flash/SE's chest). I'm sure if I took a little more time in the sculpting process they would have turned out much better. Heck, I may go back and try to fix them now.

Good luck with whatever method you choose -- it's highly likely that I'll try to copy whatever you come up with (since I know you'll give Flash the proper treatment no matter which direction you take.)

I still feel the Flash pads would be part of his outfit, so I myself wouldn't make the pads where they come off. Even with Fast Draw, I'd think the padding was a solid suit over his regular clothes. So technically I don't know anymore to do with the figure aside from bringing that joint down to the waist and making the torso solid so the chest pad doesn't move around.

I think I'm going to try to finish up the straps first. Then I'll post some pics to see what everyone thinks.

Removable everything. Flash's chest piece is basically one of those x-ray proof torso covers they use at the dentist's office.
