Hi,

Not sure if this is the right area of the forums to post this subject, but here goes.

I was wondering how you guys are set up to paint/spraypaint at home. Do you have a room in your house? Do you use the garage, the backyard or the shed? Do you have special ventilation?

In the summer, I use the backyard. However, rainy or windy days make that unpredictable. I have no garage, there is no room in the shed. On top of that, up here in Canada, 8 months of the year painting outside is just impossible because of the cold. I was thinking of setting up a ''paint shop'' in my basement. Have any of you done this? Do you have any tips?

I spraypaint in the garage. I open the windows and wear a filter mask.

Well, after sniffing the contents of five containers of superglue I begin with a coat of primer followed by a coat of spray paint.

Nah...I usually just take it outside or since my dad lives nearby I go out and use his shop.

i paint in my room and if i need to seal it i go outside

All areosols ( spraypaint, sealents, airbrush, etc) go to the garage, everything else is in the basement.

I spray paint outside and only when it is sunny. Since we had the fence put up I haven't had problems with the wind. I also use a very large box to spray things in just in case. This has kept debree out and also let me worry about getting the figure or vehcile covered without concern for where the overspray is going. On days when I have to paint in rainy weather I bring it inside after I'm done spraying and let it dry for 24 hours even if it nomrally dries faster.

A couple years ago I added a spray booth to my workshop. It vents to the outside (like a dryer vent), and it saves my lungs. I can spray there and leave, if I want.

When I brush paint I use a small desktop fan to blow air across the workarea for ventillation.

i have a makeshift paint booth in the garage for spry painting. for brush i have a little table in the living room with the ceiling fans going it dissipates the fumes
