I was doing a color test this morning on my phone for an upcoming custom. By color test I mean a quick sketch/digital mock up trying to see how different color combinations would look together on the figure. I think Raptor, use to use black and white pictures of his customs to photoshop for this purpose. We know Hasbro does several color concepts for figures and vehicles before deciding on things. But that got me wondering what everyone else's process was for when you're stuck on how to paint something?

I'll try and visualize the colors in my head, and make note of them. Then I usually just start painting. Sometimes the colors don't work out like I thought, but that is very rare.

Sometimes I'll do a quick sketch and use colored pencils. Usually though I just kinda try stuff. Been awhile since I've done anything that wasn't based on an existing design though, so I haven't had to come up with an entire color scheme in quite some time.
