Been wondering for some time, how do you get a figure to appear to be invisible? Similar to the Mirage figure that came in the Tru 6 pack. I've seen quite a few customs using this technique. Is it some sort of casting method?

Thanks in advance

Best bet would be to PM Bek and ask him what they use over at GTG. That or go to http://www.GoodToGocustoms.com and PM Aloysha and ask what type of resin he uses.

They're casted in one of the various strengths of Smooth-On's CrystalClear plastics. It's veryveryvery finicky to work with, requiring respirator masks and a hot plate griddle to cook the stuff. All props to the guys that can get it to work as I had like a 95% failure rate on the batch I tried.

I got it to work, but the chemical gave me a mother of a bad rash. So, yeah talk to Dave or Aly.

The stuff I used is pictured in this thread. 8-10 bucks at michaels or ben fanklins.

viewtopic.php?f=14&t=3440

It is easy to use, just has a bit of a smell, and has a pot life long enough to fish bubbles out of it.

I've used clear resin from Alumilite and have found it to be easier to work with than their regular resin. Even under the worst circumstances I've gotten a bubble or two in the casting without a pressure pot.

Second on the Allumilite product. I haven't used the others mentioned in the thread, but I'm in the thinking-through stages of a Wonderful project I hope to use the Allumilite clear on.
