Post subject:  SHS leg fix?

I have a SHS figure that can't keep his leg on. :-|

The top of the leg where the knob of the ball socket plugs into is either a tad big or illformed or something. When I move it around, the leg only stays attached for a degree or two of the turn and off it pops.

Any idea how to fix it?

apply some super glue to the ball joint, let it dry, then put it on, it should be a better tighter fit, if not, then add some more, just remember to let it completely dry, before reattaching it. :-)

Superglue works pretty well, as JBYRDD mentioned. I usually try that first. If the gap is too big, what I do is put a small piece of green stuff in the socket and work it around a bit - after a couple of hours, work it around again to make sure it's still moveable, then a couple of hours after that, do the same thing, then pop the leg off (carefully so you don't jack up the green stuff) and wait over night for the green stuff to cure, then you should be able to snap it on and it'll stay.

Out of curiosity, which SHS figure is it?

Depending on how severe the problem is, you might have to do surgery, like replacing the ball joint with one from a Microman figure (works for certain figures, like Wolverine). You also might want to try the ball joints of other SHS figures. I've had a bit of success with that.

I'll try the glue first then the green stuff next. I'd like to avoid surgery but I'll try if absolutely needed. :-/

thanks, folks!

I've actually boiled the leg, then squeeze it between your fingers when its soft, then dip it in ice water. I then stick it in the freezer over night. Remove, and let it thaw out. Should keep a better shape.
