I saw this and thought everyone here would be interested in it. If it has been posted before, I appoligize, as I have not been able to check in that much recently.

I think this could also be linked in the GP steampunk section. Moderators, please move this to a more appropriate section if you feel it belongs elsewhere.

I combined these two threads since we're talking about the same guy here.

I've been a fan of his for a while. His Star Wars redone figures are really good too. His work is always production quality, but his imagination is off the charts.

I like them for the most part. There are some trouble spots here and there but over all very good.

From an artistic standpoint there is something I don't get though. Why go through all the trouble to make the star wars guys into a more medievil look and give them lazer guns and light sabers. With the League of Extrodinary gentlemen feel they have why not give them pre world war two weapons and what not. That for me would have made them a total hit. Like Stars in the League world. Like Han with a revolver or a Luger even. Chewbacka with an actual crossbow (maybe even a double cross bow). Vader with a serrated two handed sword etc.

I would like to see a Jabba in this format too. I think it would look pretty cool. It was also nice to see some takes on the second string Daredevil villians. While some of them had some issues for the most part there right on the money.

He explains that on his site:

Quote:
The idea behind the line was to diversify the look of the Star Wars universe, to play up the major character traits and backgrounds of the characters, but not so much that you can not tell what character you are looking at. Other than that, all bets were off. I sketched out most of the designs, some characters are faithful to the original, others are radically different.

This universe is intended to be hi-tech meets the middle ages, that accentuated the western cowboy & eastern samurai influences on Star Wars.

He's just tweaking established characters without completely changing what works about them. Darth Vader is still an evil dude in black armor. Luke Skywalker is still a farmer from a desert planet, etc.

Star Wars itself is such a great mix of influences that it lends itself to stuff like this. Besides, if he went in a completely medieval direction, the droids would probably have to go, and the cast just ain't the same without Threepio and Artoo.
