Post subject:  Casting Woes....Help greatly appreciated!

Hey gang, i've been casting a bit lately but i would love some advice on casting things in two part molds. I have a pressure pot and vacuum degassing chamber, but i cant seem to get flawless molds ie. no seams.

So...how do you go about getting casts with no seams (or practically no seams or seams in non conspicuous places)

Also, what types of molds do you do, one part, two part, one part with slits? Do you use putty when doing a two part?

It just seems like i have the right equipment but there's something i'm missing out on so i'm not getting great casts.

I've read the wiki article...but it doesnt go too far in depth.

any help would be greatly appreciated!!

if you want to post here that would be great or a pm would be great too.

thanks!

Glassman pretty much wrote the end-all be-all guide for molding and casting.

You can find it here:

yeah, i've seen that and other casting tutorials. I know the basics...i was just wondering if anyone had any special ways to cast specific parts so that the seam wouldnt be bad. The ones that give me trouble are usually torsos and thighs.

once again, any help appreciated.
