| Post subject: | Grapple Gun for Ada |
First attempt at trying to give my Ada Wong a grapple gun. It will figure prominently in my dio. Took a pin drill and drilled two holes in the gun, one in the barrel flush, and one through the barrel side. I chose this gun because the ridges past the small barrel give the impression of a wound line. Had some great nylon thread that has the look and feel of regular cotton/polyester thread, like the accessories of old. But with much more strength. Lastly. there was the hook itself, which I removed from some accessory were the grapple rifle was permanently a part of the backpack. Not a match for her model, but for my needs, not half bad. That's nifty. How does it look when the hook is connected to the gun? |

Nice work, but in general I like the idea of custom grappling guns even better. I've never thought of making one, and ofcourse using some rope, pistols / rifles and climbing hooks is all you need. Thanks man!!! Tim 121RVC |

Here's a thought... would it be possible to drill / dremel a thin hole from the front to the back of the gun, then thread the string through that, with the hook on one end and a not on the other, so the string could be "retracted" through the gun and the hook could fit into the barrel? Your solution is excellent, it just has me thinking on other methods of doing custom grappling guns. |

Heya Dan. You know, I imagine that it could be done that way, given a small enough mirco drill bit. For me, since her gun in the game doesn't show the tines of the hook when the gun is wound, I am just planning on using an unaltered version of the gun. But your idea is GOLD! Pluv, the hook doesn't attach to the gun, it is just attached via the cord. I thought about it, but in all honesty, it was impossible due to the diameter of the pieces. They were just too close, so I couldn't bore out the barrel or the hook to make an attachment. Perhaps with a better hook assembly? Thanks all around guys. It is shaping along nicely, and I hope(accent on the hope) to at least have a teaser and the finished product done before the debut of the digital movie where Leon is stateside again. My story takes place directly after Spain and before he is stateside. Sort of a 4.5 if you will. |

I made a grappling hook gun once when I was younger by using very small, fine fish hooks as the grapple. Given, I had used a bazooka as the gun part, and wound the spare line around the front of the canister, but if you found a PTE accesory gun, they tend to run a little large to use with joes, but perhaps it would be meaty enough to give you room to attach the grapple. In any event, I agree that this is a great use of CC's gun; I may use this idea my self. |

I would think that you could also use the grapple from the vintage Star Wars Hoth mail away set. I know the grapple is a bit smaller but I think it would work just as well. Great choice for gun use. I agree that the barrel looks like wound up line. |
