My worst accident was a few years back when I was customising Batman and DC animated figures. I was cutting the tips off of a batman figures gloves with a ( I know WTF was I thinking)
box cutter and it slid right through the plastic and cut the entire top of my thumb knuckle off right to the bone. I had a hole about the size of a dime and could see joint of the knuckle. as soon as I did it I looked at it and thought " This is bad, very bad" It didnt bleed at first but all of a sudden it gushed and within 2 seconds my hand and arm were covered in blood. Luckily I havent repeted anything like that since, but it made me super careful from then on.

something similar happened to me when I was working in a computer store. I was cutting cable with a box cutter, slipped and nearly sliced off my finger tip. I looked at it and saw how deep the cut was and thought the exact same thing, this is bad. Then the gushing started, and I had to get a paper towel and put a tonne of pressure on the wound to stop it from gushing. The funny thing was my co worker was like oh its ok, and brought out one of those tiny bandaids that you put over a papercut, he says ok let go, I do and the wound starts gushing again and my hand is shaking, and my co worker STILL tried to put the bandaid on, I was like, its not going to work! the sticky part wont even stick to my blood soaked finger, and its not going to stop the bleeding. ahhh good times at summer jobs back in the day (about 7 or 8 years now). Anyways, not toy related but your story brought back memories, and you are totally right, after you do something like that you are super careful from then on.
