Everything else is straightforward but how to do the arms.

Very carefully. :-P

I think you're going to find that this is one of those times were artwork just doesn't work in real life. As I recall, Spiral's always been drawn with a fairly normal looking torso. Unfortunately, there's just no room for three arms, on the standard female shoulder. Spiral seems to have some kid of a dimensional rift going on, that allows her shoulders to acuupy the same point in space.

The only thing I could think of, would be to move the front pair of arms forward a little (too far, and it'll just look weird) put the second pair imediately behind those, and the third pair on her back. The real problem is gonna be internal space. You may have to adapt the shoulders to use narrow pins, similar to what elbow joints use. It's either that, or use ball joints, from a Legends class Transformer, but I don't know if those could be made to look right, on this kind of figure.

Good luck! If you pull this off, I really want to see it. I always thought she was one of Marvel's cooler looking characters.

I would think the best way to do it in 1:18 scale would be to make a normal 2 armed human woman....preferably with ARAH style shoulders....the type with a rivit going through.

In place of the Rivit you want a Barbell...2 spheres on either end of a post...the post going through in place of the Rivit.

After that you can use 2 other pairs of SHS type arms to pop onto the balls of the barbell.

It should look pretty good from the front...maybe not as much from the side...but no worse than the Marvel Legends Spiral.

I've been thimking about how to do Spiral for a number of years now, but never tried her. My thinking is that the MicroMan shoulder balls are the best method. Unfortunately, I don't know how to get them into a MicroLady torso.

Anyway, what my thoughts are is to cut off the smaller ball and drill three holes into the remaining big ball in a trianglular pattern, all angling in to the center of the ball. Then scavenge three pairs of 'Lady arms to insert into the holes. This would give her essentially 2 shoulder joints, the inner main one that would enable the entire trio of arms to spin in a circle, and the individual shoulder joints for each arm that would still have normal ball movement in relation to the main shoulder ball itself.

I don't wanna try to graft a 'Man's shoulder sockets out of his torso as that'd make her look too mannish, I fear; but the 'Lady shoulder ball is too small and an empty cylinder in any case.

anybody have a photo of the marvel legends one?

side note: what if we moved away from the 'ball' idea and went with 'wedge' idea -- yes, it would limit poseability, but it would conceivably fit...

in a led zeppelin bonzo pattern -

I did a quick Google image search. Every hit was basically the same promotional picture. The ML Spiral's arms are aranged in a one above, two below pattern.

What if.......

Say you take 3 microgirl arms split the shoulder joint were you have a front a sliver for the middle then the back arm having the back part of the shoulder. These arms are sooo slin that you might get desent posability out of them and by doing the 3 section shoulder piece would be a bit bigger but not as large as say Scarlett JvC shoulders. So the shoulder joint should fit nicely with most torsos with the exception of a Micro Girl torso...

Now this is all theory and I don't know how possible it is, but with as many pieces as the Micro Girl arms can come apart I think that has the best potential recipe.

I am very much looking forward to seeing the finished product, or, even better, some WIP pics. I don't know much about the character, but this project intrigues me. I once did a six armed figure, but it had an extended torso so there was plenty of room to put the arms.

Good luck with this one.

I know it might be a stretch, but the new Grevious arms might help you out on this.

They are smaller, but it might help with the basics of getting this to work. Possibly think about smaller more female arms molded over the two provided and then add the third from the center ring itself.

Again, I know its a long shot idea, but i was thinking about this thread when I picked that figure up last night.

Good luck, and I cant wait to see what you come up with.

I saw a figure that might work and now the name eludes me, it was at TRU and had 6 arms, 3 each side with articulation, i think it was in with the Bakugan Brawlers or Digimon figures, somewhere around that area, i hope that helps ya out ? :-/

I had an extra SE in my desk sooooo I cut off, half the shoulder and removed the peg on shoulder (be careful the rivet is bigger on one side) one you could do a third arm, but I think you would have to glue it in.
