My first 25th anniversary style custom. I had a lot of fun with this and picked up a lot of helpful hints along the way. I have a little bit of touching up to do on the arms, but after that I think this figure is ready for action! What do you guys think?

While it dosen't scream Colton to me, it's still a very cool figure.

I was going for the look he had towards the end of the Marvel run (issue 127 specifically). Unfortunately I'm going 100% on memory as I haven't been able to find a picture of him from that comic, and my comics are burried in the bottom of my parent's closet. I stopped reading comics shortly after the Marvel series ended and didn't really step foot in a comic shop for years so I totally missed out on the newer joe comics.

I'm glad you dig the figure. I just thought I'd throw out there where my creative direction was coming from as I've seen some pics of Colton more recently that don't look as much like this version. I also toyed around with the idea of putting the GIJoe logo across his chest similar to Bombstrike and GIJane, but in the end I like the simplicity of the plain shirt. My wife told me the shirt didn't really match his pants so I threw some paint on those pouches that I used in my camo pattern and I have to say I really like how those pockets pop on his arms.

Thanks for all of your comments! I'm really looking forward to making more customs as I had a really good time creating this figure. The hardest part is deciding who to make next :-D

A good looking custom, that Obi head works well for an older but still youthful soldier.

Color choice works...I wouldn't mind some web gear...just cuz that's kinda the whole shtick of the 25A figs.

Keep working on your cammo...the 2 color pattern isn't the easiest to pull off...yours is looking a bit too much like polka dots. I find that having a reference, pic, swatch of fabric, or other figure when I'm painting cammo helps me keep it looking right.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. There actually is 3 different colors to the camo pattern, but the one color didn't really show up in the pictures. The camo was probably toughest decision for me to make since I've never done it before. I was worried that it would just look like random spots so I think your suggestion of a reference is a good one. I'll definitely keep that in mind next time. Thanks again everyone for your thoughts!
