Sand Vipers are a “Viper” class in name only, they are completely unlike most other specialty Viper fields where the enlisted members are blue troops to start in Cobra and excel to be reclassified in a specialized field and the officers are recruited from outside Cobra (law enforcement, world militaries, etc). There is no uniformity, no standard issued equipment, no set pay scale, nor any chance of ever seeing duty in any climate other than the desert for the Sand Vipers.

No, the so-called 'Sand Vipers' are glorified mercenaries: some of the sickest, most efficient, untouchable, bad-ass loners on the planet. A good many of these Sand Vipers make more money than half of Cobra’s oldest agents and enjoy an autonomy outside of Cobra most the grunts can’t even imagine is possible. They answer to Cobra Commander as supreme ruler but he never interacts with them directly, he does not need them to report in: they would not be Sand Vipers if he did not trust them to carry out their missions. These mercenaries answer to Major Bludd; absolutely nobody else and without exception (he began with Cobra as a soldier-for-hire himself but he’s been working for Cobra for so long and been paid so well by the snakes he’ll probably never work for anyone else).

I like the idea for the first guy a lot. He needs a bit of paint touch up, but still a very cool interpretation.

Great figures man! I love the drastic departure from the original Sand Viper. These guys actually look like they belong in a desert.

Great and imaginative use of parts. I like the weapons and vehicles.

I especially like the idea of Cobra Commander employing locals as Sand Vipers rather than spending big bucks training, feeding, housing, and supplying others.

Good stuff.

Very cool! Great use of the Spirit gun for the poison darts!
Great to see one of my modified head casts in use!
It would be cool to see these guys across dunes. Got any sand nearby to take pics of them on, cause that would be sweet!
Whats the recipe on these guys (for people like me just getting back into the joe figures, but you knew that...hehehe.)
It looks like some Indiana Jones figures/accessories in the mix here. (I should really pick up some more for custom projects myself...)

Now that's what I'm talkin' about!
I friggin' love these guys! Who better to be "real world" Sand Vipers than these guys?
Stuff like this really makes me happy to see original takes on characters.
Great stuff, man!

I get a very Sarhira from the picture of them in there two vehicles together.

They are pretty cool and I really enjoy the concept.

thanks, folks, I'm glad to know this radical new take on them works that well.

I make a couple more Sand Vipers at some point later too.
