Heya guys!

This here is my very first 25th Anniversary Figure custom. (okay well I did some head swapping on my Hawk & Duke to get the look I wanted for both, but other than that...)

I would like your thoughts and comments.

PARTICULARLY...

1) Should I paint the helmet black too? Maybe with some "metal highlights" or silver or boltgun metal type color to the mask? Or leave it as is?

2) I really enjoyed doing this figure. To me it turned out better than I thought it would. And was more fun than I expected. Doing more of these might also be a way for me to afford to continue to collect figures. (one of my favorite hobbies which sadly Ive not been able to do as much of do to lack of funds. So this could be a way!) Does anyone have any tips that might help me with this? Or is this sort of thing frowned upon?

3) WHAT SHOULD I CALL THIS figure?
Shadow Guard? Crimson Guard Immortal? Crimson Guard Pilot? Other?

Looking forward to hearing your answers guys! Thanks!

EDIT: I forgot to ask when I originally posted this...is there a way to keep the paint in the joints from being scratched away by movement?

I noticed that some of it scratched off. I used a black primer paint for the black. Most of that has no trouble staying on, even in the joints, but where I had to do touch ups with black paint, that keeps "scratching" off when the joints are moved.

What can I do?

Also, should I spray over this with some sort of finish?

Im quite new to this.
Thanks again!

Perfect the way it is.
I'd go with Shadowgaurd.

Normally I'd agree with the previous posts (these guys are really good with tips and customs). I think he'd look cool with a gold faceplate. Name: CG Elite Commander.

Hi guys! Thanks for your comments! PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING!

Im still tempted to try painting the helmet black, but it does look good as is at the same time. Maybe I'll have to do two versions! :-D

I forgot to ask (I will have to edit the original post) is there a way to keep the paint in the joints from being scratched away by movement?

I actually carve a little bit of plastic away from the joint area of the limb, where it rubs against joint piece. When that doesn't work, I'll scrape the rubbing part of the joint down, and repaint it. I've not done it on a Joe yet, but on a few TF kitbashes I've done, I smeared a very thin layer of super glue over the paint, to protect it from rubs.

If you go with the super glue method, do it quickly. The super glue will start to dissolve the paint, and if you're still moving the glue around when that happens, it'll pull the paint the paint off. Just make sure the glue is dry, before you start moving the joint around.

I'd also suggest replacing that Springfield rifle. It looks nice, but the rifle grip keeps him being able to hold it in any kind of usefull grip. He can't use it to shoot at Joes.

I think if you reversed the black and crimson on the helmet and painted the eye slit silver so it mimics the torso it'd be pretty :balloon_brawlin: . As is it's still pretty sweet.

I think so too.
He looks kinda like an individual, especially without the helmet, but that's actually very nice!
The only thing I'd change is the gun / rifle.
