Here is my second Joe custom ever! (unless the 25th joes I turned into star wars or other genres count...)

25th Anv. Sand Viper Re-envisioned

Recipe:
*Upper/Lower Torso and Legs - 25th Buzzer
*Upper Arms - Saga Sandtrooper
*Lower Arms - Legends Biker Scout
*Head - Modified Alyosha head sculpt (sculpted cobra mask)
*Accessory Pack - Combination of 21 Century accessory, Scorch accessory incorporated into a sculpt.
*Rifle - from a BBI figure.
*Helmet - sculpted from scratch save for the paperclip antenna and the gasmask which was part of a Saga Boush Force Pike.
*Belt - Cast from a Darth Vader belt (cant remember version.)
*Everything Else - Sculpted.

About the design:
I liked the standard viper faceplate and wanted something like that in this design. Added the goggles in the same theme.
The cloth sculpting on the back of helmet is just more decorative than anything.
The gas mask was incorporated since I figured these guys would be using various biological and chemical weapons on enemies.
Torso Armor, tried to keep some of the design of the origional Sand Viper but wanted to incorporate a series of heatsink/air vents for a integrated cooling system built into the suit.
Alot of the over-all design was inspired by various art from some Heavy Gear role playing game books.

looks awesome, but gives me more of a space/hazmat suit feel to it than desert if that makes sense.

That's awesome. I get more of a Desert Scorpion vibe than a Sand Viper, but still.

Only thing i don't care for is the M4.

The sculpting on the upper chest is awesome. I thought you had just taken a sand viper chest and modded it to fit on the new torso joint. I love the work you did on the helmet as well. I think you did such a great job on the basic figure alone that you probably could of just put a sand viper head/helmet on him and it would of been awesome at that point as well.

That looks amazing. Really looks like he's been out in the desert, for a while.

I haven't posted in several weeks, but man that is cool. Definitely see other genres went into his inspiration and he'd easily fit into star wars, star gate, or other scifi. Personally my brother and I are slowly putting together customs more in line with Fallout.

That looks pretty awesome. the helmut does make it look more hazmat looking, I guess Im just a fan of the original sand viper head, but great work.

That looks just simply amazing. Not sure why, but I get a Heavy Metal (movie, not Joe) vibe from it. I like it.

Ya, it was my only weapon that was desert painted. BBI I think...
I could have painted something else up, but figured the paint from the gun would rub off in the hands of the figure unless I did so many dull coats that the weapon looked, well, er lubed...LOL

About the Heavy Metal Vibe, Its been a long time since I saw the movie, however now that I think about it didnt some of the soldiers have helmets kind like what I designed here? (I have not seen that movie since high school, so that was like 16 years ago or more...)

Here is a closeup of the figure with the gear removed so you can see the torso armor better. (and also the flaws, my symetry was off on some of the rings.

Image

for some reason almost every rear picture of this figure ends up slightly blurry...really irritating...
