In this thread, it was suggested that Rit dye can be used to rid the ranks of the goofy yellow web gear http://www.joecustoms.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=8882

I got the stuff to give it a try, and bearing in mind the advice Hypno gave, plus the great tutorial in the Wiki, I gave it a stab. I decided to go with tan, at first, and then try dark brown if that didn't work well, but I got a great result the first time. My reasoning for going with brown was that I've seen a lot of "third" world armies (where i see the bulk of cobra's recruits coming from) are still using a lot of leather in their gear, as opposed to the G8 countries using a lot of nylon web gear.

Any way here they are:

I like the way this came out, for my first try.

Your thoughts?

I did the same with all my crappy yellow gear. The only issue I had was that the dye bleeds and gets on everything. So I had to paint the dyed parts black to seal in the dye.
Looks good, BTW.
