Just rolled out with a couple of new Cobra armored vehicles. Both are modified Chap Mei vehicles. I like the idea of Cobra having smaller vehicles that can be easily airlifted in and out of target zones for hit and run attacks. The Armored car is as yet unnamed. Critique and comment are welcome.

The second is called the Cobra Scarab Tank. It is also a modified Chap Mei Vehicle. It is based on the German "Weisel" attack tank and is equipped with a Tow anti tank weapon. I'd like to hear what you think!

I think they are flawless man. They look production quality, the paint application is perfect. I also like the facy that they look realistic. I could easely imagine if Cobra would exist today, their veichules could very much looks like this.

Thanks! I really go for the realistic stuff... I like a jetpack or a laser rifle here or there- it adds flavor :) but for the most part I like models based on real vehicles. That's why I grabbed that smaller one as soon as I saw it. I wish I had grabbed about 3 or 4 in retrospect. They were only like $5.00 a piece at Rite aid at Christmas time. Oh well.

Thanks for the kind words. It is much appreciated.

Yes, quite nice indeedy, both of them. The only thing I'd say needs to be fixed are the chains holding the spare tire on, they need to be silver instead of blue; and the headlights need to white.

What paint is that? I presume it's from a spraycan, yes?

As to a name for the first one, perhaps something acronymish like the COBRA 3C - Civilian Control Cruiser? Perhaps the COBRA Pacifier?

Very cool vehicles both.

I agree, light and fast would be Cobra's bread and butter. These would do the trick.

Those are so cool. I really like that tracked one. It's like a mini-Hiss.

Thanks for the comments, guys. I think these are the first of many armored vehicles I'm going to modify and paint up for cobra. I'd like to get a couple of more of the smaller tanks and modify them with differet weapons. I'd also like to customize some Hiss tanks when the updated edtions hit the shelves. These were a lot of fun, and I was able to do yard work between paint coats so that my wife was satisfied even though I spent the whole of Saturday customizing! Multitasking rocks!

COOL! That's one of the reference pics I used! I'd like to get one of those Chap Mei helicopters that can fit a vehicle or two in it's belly so I can have my "Scarabs" airlifted in and out of target areas. It looks like your into seeing the GI Joe core of engineers from the looks of your other choices... very cool!

I thought about making the chains silver, but I wasn't sure. I thought it might be to shiny... too garish. I couldn't find any reference pics to see what a real vehicle of this kind would do with chains. Would they paint them to reduce glare or would they have shiny chains? I suppose I could give it a try and see what it looks like. I agree that the headlights need to be painted, but I can't decide what color. I think white would be too bright, but I can't figure out what else to do with it. Any other suggestions?

I used Krylon Fusion Navy Blue. I hate the gloss, but I can't find this product in matte or flat finishes, so I have to spray the whole thing with Testors Dull Coat after painting. It costs a good deal more (the tiny can of Dull Coat is more expensive than the large can of paint), but it's worth it. I love the look of the Dull Coat and the Fusion is everything they say it is.

Thanks for the name suggestions. I did some research to see if there are any snakes that have heavy armor type scales, but came up with nothing. Maybe an acronym is the way to go, but I always saw acronyms as a Joe thing. Although there is the S.N.A.K.E, the C.L.A.W., the H.I.S.S.... :-)

Thanks Again!

Those turned out very nice. I really dig the smaller one. Cobra having a more blitzkrieg strategy makes total sense.

Well, there is the spitting cobra...

Maybe 'Spitter'?

I've always liked 'Rhingals' myself though... :D

Also because they are smaller tanks, you could go with 'Krait'. Then there is the shipping method of transporting 'Kraits' in crates...

"Spitter"? Hmmm.... That's not for me 8-O . OK, I won't steal "Rhingals" from you... but I do want to see photo's of... well you know... when their done. "Krait" does have possibilities... but the "crate" pun is stretching it a bit ;-)

Thanks for the suggestions! :-D
