I've not made it a habit to do much 25A customs, but after seeing Raptor's 25A Sputnik while up in Canada, I just HAD to make one of my own...

Not much to it, but it's certainly fun ;)

For the Steampunk group project, I set out to make Dr Mindbender and a steam powered Toxo Lab... It became obvious that I was not going to make the deadline with the lab, but Bendy here should have been ready... I just never had a chance to take the pictures until today :(

I've sort of made it a side hobby to create some new troopers to fill out the ranks of my Cobra armies. This is my Cobra HALO jumper

Head: Stinger Driver
Torso: Chameleon
Arms: Cobra Commander v1.5, Cobra Officer v1.5
Hands: BBI
Waist, legs: Lady J

this past Christmas, Jimmyboy and I decided to do something a bit different - a WIP exchange. We each took figures we had assembled but had not painted, and traded them. It turned out to be a pretty fun thing to do...

First is the custom I made that he painted for me: I still need to finish the eyes though

Image

Image

Here is his figure that I painted for him: He hasn't seen it yet because I suck and haven't mailed it, so I hope he likes it:

And last, and most definately not least, Jimmy sent me this awesome figure for my birthday to go with my Indiana Jones display (he sent me a German Mechanic 2 years ago)

Toht! (the red hot poker was inspired, IMO)

So, this is what little I've been working on the last month or so. Comments, critiques, I'd love to know what you think! :D

I was wondering why I didn't see Bendy in the GP - I thought he looked finished when I was out at your place.

They all look good -- but SPunkBender rocks.

Cobra Halo Jumper is very cool.
Do you have a pic of him without the vest?
The camo on his legs is great!

25th Sputnik looks rather good...I take it thats just a head swap and then some Chap Mei gear and MJ weapons?

SteamPunk Mindbender looks realy cool...Parts choice is excellent...you clearly made it farther with your SP GP than I did with mine...which are still just designs in my head. The leg makes sense...but I'd still like a bit of explaination on why he's go it.

There might be a couple fit issues to clean up with the swivel wrists...a teired cut joint or somthing more like a post and hole joint might be a better option on your added swivel wrists...especially when you're using longer hands like those gloved ones.

a bit of a neck extension might not hurt...but I don't think its necessary...a strap for the goggles however is. I love that Lady Jaye Hair on Mindbender's head...it fits perfectly.

Last thing I'd do is use a twist tie wire to create the curls of his mustach, add a bit of green stuff and you'd be right on.

Your Halo Viper is cool...I have a hard time dealing with that old trooper head since the TRU blueshirts came out...otherwise its still very cool....You've really developed a signature style of Cammo...it's pretty definitive as your own.

Give me eyes and a bio on your custom by Jimmyboy and I'll give you a critique...Don't tell me you're gonna call him Tripwire...cuz thats no Tripwire. Paint is a tad glossy but othewise the figure looks pretty cool...I like the bipod mod to the Rock Viper gun.

I love ShockWave's head...it's got a very SM Brazil Leatherneck feel to it...the Cammo work looks great...but I'm not really wowed by the arms...they look like black globs over stock TF duke arms.

I really don't like Spearhead's torso...not sure why...maybe it's cuz it looks so wide like a corps torso...but I'm just not a fan of what should be an otherwise cool torso

Yea I am a slacker. Thanks though man!

I don't have any pics of HER without the parachute, but I may pop a few off later this week. Thanks! I was never very good at camo painting, so I just sort of started improvising rather than trying to mimic any real world camo, and I've sort of developed it from there. I'm pretty happy with how they come out these days.

Pretty much, yea, though I have since painted the id tag to read CIA rather than 'vet'

It's raw materials, man. It was to go with my VERY incomplete SP Overkill. That, or I just found it laying there one afternoon and thought it would look cool in his hand. :shifty:

Hmm? Really? I thought that was my cleanest wrist job yet...

Yea, I think that may be why I put off taking the pictures - I've wanted to stick something under then base of the neck to lift it a bit. And yes, I LOVE the way that hair looks.

Thanks! See above for the camo. You and I will never agree on that head though.

Trip Wire? I don't even know where you got that dude. Not sure what role he's going to play, so the bio is still forthcoming. This bipod on the rifle (all of the accessories, infact) were 100% Jimmyboy. I thought that was awesome too, plus I dig having it mount the backpack too.

That's Hasbro dude. Those are unaltered Hit N Run arms.

Yea, I never cared much for any part of Spearhead, but in the process of painting this, I wondered it maybe it wasn't designed with a different figure in mind, because there is a lot of intricate detail that really doesn't make much sense for his character. It was sort of fun to paint though.

Thanks for the input though, and the comments everyone!

25th Sputnik = Geigh! :D

Steampunk Mindbender is great. It is a shame he didn't make it in for the project because he's a great lloking figure. One day we'll have to see your plans for the lab.

Halo Viper is good with solid painting on the camo.

The JimmySputnik customs look decent. Some odd parts combos but pretty good for a joint custom project like this. I probably would have painted the shockwave one's arms to match his pants though.

Toht is great. I like all of his accessories. And if they ever make the Toht figure this can be your Pimp Daddy Jimmyboy figure
