Ever since I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark at a drive in theater from the hatchback of my Pap’s AMC Pacer back in 1981, I have been obsessed with Indiana Jones. Almost as obsessed as I am with MacGyver. So guess what?

I thought about making Indy back when I was doing MacGyver and Murdoc, but I never got around to it. Now with people talking about the new movie and with action figures coming out, I set all my other ideas aside because :shifty I wanted to be the first one to do Indiana Jones Sigma style. Maybe I am, maybe not, but at least I’ve got Indy on my team...(tho he's not done yet) *grin*

Here’s my mock up, using an FA Duke as the base...That’s not all his gear, but what I’ve got so far.

I know the famous cockeyed grin would have been better, but I liked the character in this head...that “I’m determined you’re gonna lose” look. The “stubble” also helped me choose, but I think I might repaint that anyway.

I’m debating about filling in the cheeks a little. And it’s hard to tell in the pictures, but I gave him some lines between the brows and deepened the lines above his mouth a little. And that bit of white on his chin will be the famous Indy scar. ;)

This head is in scale, though I'm not sure what to think about it.

Thanks guys. :) Yeah, Kil's got a perfect coat, and in the end I'll probably cave and get it because I doubt I could do better... :shifty: I'm just a miser and don't like to spend much on my figures. lol.

Chad, yeah, I don't like that head...not that mine captures Indy perfect, but that doesn't look to me at all like the character.

As an archaeologist, I approve of it so far. I have no problems seing Indy in that face. He does get pretty serious from time to time, It's not all joke and funny comments.
Can't wait to see it finished, your customs are usually great.

Thanks a lot for the encouragement, guys! :)

I got some new sculpting stuff to try and plan to rework Indy a little bit with it, so in the meantime, I'll tease you with THE hat:

As an Indy fan I approve of it. I have no problems seeing Indy with that face.

Thanks again for the comments, guys. :) I know it's been an awful long time since I've updated, I feel like a ping pong ball lately!

I switched to using Apoxie Sculpt and have had it for a while, but hadn't made the time to experiment with it. Finally took the plunge this week. I didn't like how Indy's shirt was going before, and so removed most of what I'd done and reworked it some with the Apoxie. This is my first experience with the stuff, so I feel all new to this again! Obviously it needs a lot more work, but it's something, anyway! I also redid his cheeks and gave his face a rough coat of paint so I could see the imperfections better...still needs work.

Thanks bigtat...been awhile since I've been in to update! I don't have much because life's been crazy lately. I haven't done a whole lot on the customs front other than painting my Transformers chess set. I'm still getting the hang of using apoxie rather than my old marine epoxy and I don't feel like I'm having much success. I actually redid Indy's shirt from what you see above because I wasn't totally happy with it. And I hated what I did...so I boiled and popped a new body to start from scratch.

Same hands, legs and head as before. I think I'll like Spirit's arms better for this because they don't have the sigma ports. I'm moving away from the Sigma suit for him, but want to keep the feel of the sigma sculpt, and I kinda lost that in the resculpting I did. Hopefully I can get something more done on him this week!

I love seeing updates on your work. Hopefully things will calm down for you soon and you can get back to some more "works of art" that you produce. :)
