I don't know what the original post was about, as it appears to have been deleted. Regardless, it struck a chord with me. When I was in my early teens, I spent some afternoons playing "GI Joe Football" with my Joes on the top of my dresser. I had set up about 4 teams, and I even made up stats as I went along. I didn't base their abilities on the characters themselves, but on how "football" the figure looked. I still remember some of the "stars":

Sci-Fi - Quarterback
Alley Viper - Fullback
Spearhead - Fullback
Hit & Run - Running back
Rock Viper - Wide Receiver
Captain Grid Iron - Left Guard
Repeater - Defensive End
TARGAT - Devensive Tackle
Shockwave - Safety

Don't know if that has anything to do with the original post, but it definitely brought back memories for me.
