'The Pros From Dover' deserves the kudos for the camo trousers, I commission him to paint the legs and waist. Research and advisement by Crowncoke. The rest is all MY warpedness.

Inspired by SE v1 (silent but deadly) and Grifter of WildC.A.T.S (if he'd shut up).
I love the idea and the original, earliest characterization of Snake Eyes: quiet, efficient, selfless, loyal, nimble, sneaky, and deadley. Total commando and enigmatic. But I stopped buying it after like issue #15 of the comic, his story went way overboard and everything about it was just lame IMO.Anyway, he's got a good part in NFCverse.
Sick and scary, yes. Lethal, hell yes. Handicap? Not in the least.

There is a clear difference between needing a mask to keep the wearer’s face hidden from the world and wearing one just because it gets reactions. For Seth H. Alexander it’s all about intimidation: Red stitching runs down each cheek symbolizes a statue crying tears of blood which just weirds people out. Black fabric obscures his mouth, goggles cover his eyes, and a red X is stitched over each of his ears… Popular speculation is that those elements are supposed to send the “speak no evil, see no evil, hear no evil” to all who see him but most of his comrades would rather never learn the answer to that question....
... Nor will anyone from his inner circle of friends or his dozen teammates off the original roster ever confirm or deny any of the “water cooler” talk that circulates about the man.
SFC Seth isn’t necessarily trying to keep himself to the shadows but as a combat-hardened Army NCO he knows the advantages of the cover of blackest night. At least if terrorist grunts or recon teams DO see him coming they have a warning: they can make their Peace, it’s way too late to run. Dead is really dead with SE at hand. Every Cobra trooper from the commander of the Crimson Guard down to the new blueshirt trainees in Big Boa’s gym knows of “the guy in the mask” or “Joe’s wildcard” commando, he’s one of 10 GIJoe agents that nobody in the Cobra ranks dares speak the name of, lest Fate brings the wrath of any of those he-who-must-not-be-named Joes down on their heads.
To say Snake Eyes is “the quiet type” would be a gross understatement, he can’t see the point in talking (actions speak louder than words afterall). He speaks if spoken to but he’d rather listen. Training teammates in the hand-to-hand arts or acknowledging orders in the field are the only settings in life where he talks freely and nobody worries. O woe be the Cobra or Iron Grenadier trooper that DOES hear Snake Eyes’ voice though, they’re certainly taking that story to the grave with them...
"The man's [something of, natch] a mystery, but he's good at what he does. Heck, he's the best.
