"Oh crap - Chief's making superhero customs again - time to put him back on the "foes list" :P "

(just wait 'til I get those SE V3s - they're all fodder for my superhero projects ;) )

Anyway, I made a Cap out of Joe parts a few years back and was pretty happy with him.
http://www.joecustoms.com/customs/custo ... =C&id=6756

Happy, that is, until the 25A figs came out. I know Invisible Wraith (iwbeta to the uninformed masses) made a kick-ass soldier-styled Cap a while back. I thought about something similar, but decided to go with a mix of traditional, Ultimate, & modern instead:

I was going to go with the new Cap/Winter Soldier look, but I like Steve too much to leave him for dead. The Civil War never happened in my 'verse (or at least, not to the extremes that Marvel took it to), so Steve's still alive. He is, first and foremost, a soldier - hence the pistol. I was gonna make him a Joe, but Captain is a pretty low rank for someone with his experience & leadership skills, and "Colonel America" just didn't sound right ;) So he's an agent of SHIELD, which works in conjunction with the Joes on occasion. And since everyone knows that Steve Rogers is Captain America, he doesn't wear the mask anymore. I may change that if I ever find a suitable head to paint a mask on, but for now he's an unmasked dude in a star-spangled suit. He'd get a helmet, but none of them look good on him, so he'll have to wait.

Image

When Arctic SE comes out, I'll likely swap his gloves for CC's (since the hands are so tiny on CC), but right now it works well enough.

I need to update Fury & Bucky with 25A parts eventually, but they'll do for now.

Image

Parts list:
Torso, upper arms - Roadblock
Lower arms - Cobra Commander
Legs - Duke
Head - Comic Pack Hawk (ARAH)

Lemme know what you think!

It's so cool that a painted head isn't needed.
Maybe a blue helmet with a star on it.

Very cool

Do what? When did this happen!?!?!

Anyway, This is quite nice but the upper chest seems a bit pre-Serum sized to me. RB's chest might've been a better choice.

Now I gotta wait a couple of weeks to show off my new Cap fig, dammit. Damn, people; get y'all's own superheros!

My 'verse, my rules ;) -- I was gonna use the "when he got shot, his mask was off" cop out, but I already said that I disregard most of the Civil War "canon", so I probably need to figure out that one a little better... Mainly I just think masks are lame for the most part :P

That is Roadblock's chest, by the way - and waist & upper arms (I figured "torso" would imply both upper & lower, but with the new construction, I can see where one might miss it.) Maybe the shield is blocking his bulkiness, but his upper body is as big as it gets without sanding down a Serpentor.

Thanks for the comments guys- I had a lot of fun making this one, and he came together pretty quickly (kinda like every other custom I've ever made.) And priming before painting makes a WORLD of difference - the white went on with no probs, and everything was done in two coats or less.

The only downside is that now I have to wait for the 25A v2 Hawk to come out so I can have a Hawk figure again (used the head for Steve here, and now I don't want them looking the same.)

Thanks Tim --

Unfortunately, that particular MLS Cap was chopped up to make a Taskmaster a while back for an NJC.

Damn sweet Cap, bro.

I do think he needs some sort of head/face covering though. Otherwise it's a great rendition.

simple, but awesome. Love the smooth painting and simplistic design. Very tempted to copy

Great looking Cap custom Chief. Nothing really to critique on the figure. The paints look especially sharp on this figure. The hawk head is a great choice for steve rogers.

I think that is a great take on updating Capt. America. A very real world look to it. I like it a lot.
