Nothing too major here, just something I've been trying to get done for a while. I modified the Boba Fett/Grand Slam jet pack flames so they have a better base to sit on, molded it, cast it and painted it up.

Unfortunately you have to balance the figure with a foot against the flame/smoke but I don't think it looks too bad.

And some images of the painted version next to the unpainted cast. The pegs didn't come out perfect but they work well enough.

I have a few of these that I need to clean up and I'll be putting them up for sale if folks are interested. And I'm willing to cast more if there's enough interest.

Looks pretty cool!

What are the chances of getting them cast in a clear material so they could be painted with transparent glass paints?

I used the Alumilite fast setting resin for the ones I've done so far. I'm considering trying a clear material but I wanted to get the mold and casting down first. The clear material I've seen runs a bit more expensive than the fast setting stuff I used. But I'll definitely investigate it because I think these would look pretty cool with glass paints like you mention and possibly lit from underneath with a Christmas light or something similar.

That's a great piece to cast. Helluvan idea. When I eventually get into casting...I'm gonna start with something like that. I could get away with a flaw here or there, it's not like it's a head, or gun. I like the paint app also

Great idea first off!

I was looking at the unpainted ones, the yellowish ones that look like grits/oatmeal?

My first thought was how much it looked like those security 'foam-guns' I've seen in some CT books. They are used to cover a suspect to keep them from escaping or going for their weapons.

Just one of those could be hollowed out on the wide end to cover a torso or feet.

Maybe cut it at an angle for the feet then.

Wait a sec...

...okay, I just grabbed my copy of 'The POWER Series' "US Elite Counter-Terrorist Forces.

Inside it shows someone testing this "resin foam". The caption reads: "A high-tech gun designed to 'slime' nuclear terrorists and protect the United States' nuclear arsenal. Developed by Sandia National Laboratories in 1992, this less-than-lethal weapons fires a super glue-like foam at terrorists, immediately diasabling them. The 20-pound, shoulder-slung gun can fire multiple shots of foam to 35 feet. The non-toxic foam is stored under pressure and expands 35-50 times when dispensed. Department of Energy SWAT Teams and the FBI's HRT have access to this new weapon."

If you googled this you might think some pics. If anything with a little bit of work, you could make two of these with each casting...

I'm thinking about doing some modifications to the ones I have done to make the pegs a little more sturdy before selling them. When they're ready and I'm happy with the finished product you guys will be among the first to know.

As for price, right now I'm thinking unpainted probably about $4 a piece but that's not set just yet. I need to work out what it cost for the mold and resin and how many pieces I made from that.

What do you guys think would be a reasonable price? What would you be willing to pay?

4.00 for unpainted sounds like a decent price to me.

Yeah, that's not a bad price, Chris.

I'm not into the whole heated pressure pot deal like some people are. That's why I use the fast setting Alumilite resin. Sets up in like 10 minutes no fuss no muss. It does get bloody hot though.
