I know it's been a while. I blame the writer's strike.

But to help bring folks quickly up to speed (cue voiceover guy)

NOOOOOOOOOOOO! It's 4am and I'm about to finally get to sleep but I decide to poke around the boards for a few minutes and what do I find? Chapter 9....which means I have to read it before sleep! I wish I would have checked like say four hours ago, haha.

Thank the powers that be that the "writers strike" is over-- I've been waiting for this next installment for some time!

Another great chapter-- with some nice development of the characters and their respective personalities.

Great work as alway! Off to add it to the Daily News!

Very cool, Spin, another nice chapter even without much action...

Keep it up.

Thanks for checking this out, guys, and for taking the time to comment.

Good to know you're still enjoying the story.

Even better to know you aren't quite sure what to expect.

As for the lack of action in this installment,I figured Doc could use a break after all the casualties he's gotten the last few chapters. But there's just one installment left and I can assure you he'll have more company in the infirmary before it's all over.

;)

I really hope that Snake Eyes gets the chance to get revenge on Zartan...but you very well might leave that for the next story just to tease us.

No! You can't end it like that. Come on now. :-D
Great stuff, Ray.
My only critique, and it's bothering me more and more, is Gung Ho's head. It's just not working for me.

Ray, ray.

AWESOME.

Those hands and the positioning in the sets suspends disbelief on a level I cannot begin to describe.

You're not the first person to have trouble with that GH custom head, J. I may just have to find a narrative reason to swap it out in the next story arc. Hopefully you can put up with it for the last chapter.

And Cap, you know the only reason my stuff looks any good is because of the fantastic sets you built me. Seriously...these things are so darned versatile! Least I could do was come up with a decent story to tell using them.

As for revenge on Zartan, Snake might have to take a number. That guy hasn't made a whole lot of friends since infiltrating the Pit.

Thanks for the comments, all. I appreciate it.

Very good chapter! I didn't miss the action because the suspense keeps up the adrenaline and the dialog is great. I love how you've set up the story so it progressively becomes more and more uncertain what's really going on.

That's the plan, Mac.

;)

Glad it's been working for you.

I'm just finishing up the editing on the finale now.

Hope it won't disappoint.
