O.K. I learned in making this guy that I suck at painting camo, but for you guys that can, maybe this will be an inspiration for parts.

I have his backpack in the works but the paint is still wet on it and the straps.

I like it.
Just outline the brown with a fine black marker and add a lighter center to some of the brown spots.

Crap! The friggin' Intertoobs ate my first post! I had a couple good paragraphs and now it's getting late and I don't have time to re-type them.

So the gist was - looks great TC - I dig that you stayed so faithful to the v1 fig. I've got one in the works (he's my next scheduled Joe custom), but I haven't decided if I'm going to go with the camo/head-towel look or something different. This gives me something to think about.

And then I said something about Dusty being the Aquaman of the Joe team :P

Anyway - really good job - and is that left-hand pouch sculpted? I don't remember any figs with a pocket on that side.

Thanks guys, I really wasnt too sure about this guy but the more I look at him the more he grows on me.

Joe, I'll give your sugestion a shot, thanks a million.

Tans, Glad I gave you some parts to think about. ;)

Chief, The parts list is...

Head: Hawk
Helmet: JvC Dusty dremeled out to fit.
Torso: Duke
Arms: Cobra trooper or officer
Shirt tail: JvC Dusty modded
Thighs: Buzzer
Lower legs: Hawk

Dusty being the Aquaman of the Joe team must have something to do with him being from Las Vegas. (Looks in Joes' direction) :D

Nice work TC! I agree with gijoey--sharpen up the camo, then add a FAMAS. Truly a great addition to your customs :D

I think you did a great job! I agree with gijoey's suggestion...that'll really define the camo and complete it nicely!

MR. HANKEY SLIMED DUSTY!!!

He looks a lot like the Dusty in the Spy Troops movie. Very good job on the figure. You can fix the camo by adding another layer of another color and overlapping some of the dark brown.

I like this one. The v.1 feel is definitely there and I can see Hasbro turning out something very similar to this if they do a Dusty. I have an idea for my own bouncing around my brainpan, just need a few more parts. I'm going with a more modern look for mine. Though yours here has me questioning that.

I'm thinking you should fix the camo by going in the other direction. Rather than fine-tuning it, I'd tone it down. I'd take the tan paint and "dry-brush" the figure, giving the fabric more of a stonewashed look.

Ok, I see you tried to go with his v.1 look and it didn't quite translate over. I'd say the biggest thing to look at is the size and shape of the splotches on his chest. Followed by how all the splotches on his leg kind of line up in a row down his leg. Try to keep all of your splotches at a similar size. For those long streaks on his chest that means breaking them up into two or three. On the legs you can try to offset the splotches so one isn't right above or across from another. Think of it like a checkerboard where you are only painting in the black squares.
