While I'm being lazy about getting acquainted with my new Apoxie putty, I decided I couldn't stand playing with 25A Shipwreck any more in his current state of terrible quality control... ![]() ...just a disgrace to my favorite character! You can see that the paint job is really bad...missing a good part of the hair, both eyes were kind of off-kilter (I'd already prodded at the left one when I took this picture), paint not meeting the edges of where it's supposed to go, button paint not on the buttons...just sloppy. Anyway, nothing spectacular really...just fixing a paint job that shoulda been done right to begin with. I'm also working on the legs so he can actually sit right. I changed his skin color, too...I thought he was kinda pasty for a guy who spends a good chunk of time at sea...and it was kinda necessary cuz the elbow joints were still blue. He'll be getting a tiny version of my S6 Shippy's tattoo, and I'll be "fixing" the insignia on his shirt...ala Sunbow. And yes, he has eyelashes. *grin* ![]() And from slightly different angle and lighting: ![]() Tell me what you think so far! I forgot how fun it is to paint on a small scale! |

VERY Nice! - I've never seen a turd polished with such incredible results Seriously, that's just perfect -it shows that the sculpt wasn't that bad after all. Can I ship all my 1:18-scale heads to you to paint from now on? |

I dont think I have ever seen anyone paint eyes on a 1:18 figure that perfectly. you must use a microscope and a brush with one hair on it. Truly amazing! |

LOL...well, no microscope...but I do have a pretty sparse brush...I think it might have 4 hairs in it. |

Been a while, but I finally got around to finishing good ol' Hector. So, now that I'm all smiles, here's my finished 25A Shipwreck, fixed, tweaked and almost completely "Sunbowed." (Yes I took lots of pictures...lol) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And all the closeups of details: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Every last detail is hand painted...and the tattoo only took me 2 tries. Heck, I was impressed. lol. |

OMG! you are amazing! That tattoo and stripes are insane! I'm going to go burn all my customs now, after seeing this calibre of work I know that I am nothing and you are the master (mistress?) of the miniscule detail. |

Your customs make me feel inferior. I'm with TC, I'm chucking my customs and I'm going to take up knitting. Is there a viagra for custom inferiority complex |

Oh geez....you guys are pathetic! Seriously, I'm not sure it's all THAT good, but thank you. And TC, that would be "mistress of miniscule details." lol. I should clarify...I didn't paint the red stripes as they were already on the figure, so I just used 'em. Everything else was me, tho. |

I don't know what impresses me more, the perfect work on the eyes or that flesh paint. What flesh color and brand of paint did you use on him? |

Nice work! I've admired your work for a while, but the source (Sigma 6) never interested me. Good to see you working in 3 3/4". |

Thanks guys! It was fun working on the smaller scale. MUNDO wrote: I don't know what impresses me more, the perfect work on the eyes or that flesh paint. What flesh color and brand of paint did you use on him? LOL...let's just say I'm glad I mixed a lot of it, but wish I'd mixed more! I really like it, too, but it's a home brew. I think I started with Model Masters warm skin tone tint and light skin base, then added this and that, mixing brands. I couldn't even tell you! |
